Seems like a fun job if you love what you do. I have been following the 787 development for some years now and also participated in the various surveys online when they created the website for the 787 or should I say the 7E7. I remember voting for one of the top 5 or 3 names (don't remember now) that Boeing had listed to choose from for the aircraft.
I have flown the Boeing 777-200ER in the past with my uncle as the Captain and enjoyed every moment of it so I can only imagine how exciting and wonderful it will be to fly the 787.

They just told us that no more installation plans (IP's) are needed, possibly due to the machinists' strike. Now it's back to our maintenance manual project...

39yr old here in Hong Kong, an hedge fund trader. We pay double of what you guys pay for cars. I paid USD150k for a C63, USD200k for S350L, USD120k for Cayenne. Not trust fund kid, not a drug dealer, dont drink, dont smoke. Why so many ppl think only spoiled kids can afford expensive cars?? You are not the only one has this in your mind...

My brother worked for Verizon and also worked from the Trade Centers I think for about 15 years but was still in his Brooklyn apartment on 9/11 and saw it "live" from his window, he lost alot of friends and people that he knew. I have been to ground zero on several ocasions and still cant believe they are not standing anymore, needless to say my brother stays clear of that area. My parents could see the disaster that day from a church steeple in New Rochelle next to the Bronx and I for one "will never forget".

I can understand how you & your brother feel. It was a bad day for everyone. I've been there at Ground Zero for over a year now working on the "Freedom Tower". I'm 42 yrs. old & a N.Y.C. union iron worker. Hope this makes you & your bro feel a lil better, but we are putting them back up...much better and stronger than before!
. I remember as a child looking out the school window and always seeing the NYC skyline, and now there is a hole,its a weird feeling,something big is missing and it really makes me angry, those *******s bombed my back yard.

I would almost Guarantee you all that the way this happened, it will Not, shall Not, happen again!!! I do alot of flying and I'm almost positive that if someone dares to try to take over a passenger airline, people like myself will react very swiftly and decisively

rying to be a Heli Pilot here...but FAA changed the rule, you have to be a US citizen to attend flying school here, cant blame them.

Well I am more of a 2 wings kinda guy, something about an engine failure on a helli......kinda scares me lol. Also I don't remember it coming up as an issue when my father wanted to take some flying lessons but that was a year or so back. I will have to check and make sure that FAA rule is actually in effect but if you can point it out to me then that would save me some time haha

And how scary is autorotating a helicopter? Do you practice that?

Yes, it is practiced regularly. The more you practice the less scary it should be... theoretically, but surely it is a lot more scary during a real emergency. I have been lucky enough to never experience an engine failure, and even if I did I still have another. It is definitely not the most scary emergency that could happen in a dual engine aircraft. A little more so for a single engine.

A test? For sure nothing that I have ever done in any training. It's actually unauthorized except in case of an emergency if one goes out and only if you have enough altitude to pull it off before hitting the ground.

And yes, we do "Power On" & "Power Off" stalls in the airplane. The first couple times I did it was in a Cessna 172 and it scared me for a bit but then it got easy after practicing. I am actually not even scared about losing an engine. My Instructor used to simulate engine failures all the time and sometimes just pull the throttle out completely on downwind before landing. Best thing is not to panick or else all hell brakes lose.
