Great driving roads near Chicago
Does anyone know some great driving roads near chicago? I'd like to take a drive this afternoon and open the car up

It's a bit late for afternoon - but Lake Shore Drive from Soldier Field take that north, it ends at Hollywood/Sheridan... take Sheridan north... go through ALL the towns to Waukegan, then Waukegan go West to 94. Take 94 south, when you get the option to do so, head west to IL53, then take that til it becomes 355, take 355 south all the way to 80, 80 east back downtown... rinse and repeat.

I live in the city and drive lakeshore drive and sherridan all the time - terrible road quality and you can't open the car up at all - i was looking for something more outside the city with twists, curves and straight lines to have some fun. Somewhere scenic

yep lumpy a$$ roads no doubt, but in the area about as exciting as it gets.
If you want to head west, there are some neat roads that go through st. charles/geneva area - but it's not a long stretch. If you want curves, go to riverside - no parallel roads in the whole town, but slow.
You want curves? I hope to eat my words if someone else proves me wrong, but there really aren't any.
I ride a triumph sprint st on nice days (c63 is my foul weather ride lol) and been shopping for a good road for years.

Yeah we don't have canyons or mountains roads for any exciting drives or any roads for that matter that I know of either.
Gilmore road up north by the Lake Zurich area has a history for being the road to hit but I never figured out why as it's pretty tame IMO and not very long either once you open up a fast car or bike.

Tell you what, if you're in the lake zurich area, just go more north into lake geneva. The roads immediately around the lake are a blast, albeit slow.
