What Is the Maintenance Like?
I like BMW because the maintenance is included and is only once every 12k miles as far as I recall.
How is it with MB?

AMG cars should have their oil changed every 10k miles. If you drive it hard, then I would suggest every 5k-7k miles. Service costs can vary between $275 up to $550, depending on the service.

BMW needs to offer that service plan free of charge (or is it hidden in the price of the car) because without it, no one will buy the car.... ask any BMW owner how expensive the BMW service becomes after the service plan expires!!

oil change on a c63 is $158.xx i cant tell you anymore,
as far as bmw goes 4/50000 miles you dont pay ***** nothing.0 $$. i had 2 bmw before, and both the same.e46 m3 and e60 545i.
after the 50k or 4 years you can get a extened but it $6000 and you have to be the original owner. the 6000 includes everything like it does in the 4/50k

My first oil change was only $105.
I wouldn't wait til 15K to change the oil even if it is free. BMW's free maintenance program is designed for people who lease and don't care about or understand cars IMO. It's completely a marketing tool and it works for their target audience. Badge ***** imbeciles. (j/k!!!)

I change my oil/filter every 3k (Motul 5w-40). Other than that My Nitto DRs are looking pretty shoddy after 3k miles. The way I drive I'll be lucky to get 10k out of the front rotors/pads.

Thanks E100. Type in "Oil extractor" in Amazon.com. I had a Topsider before (bought from a boating supply store online) and the quality is not that great (the pump handle came off). I think I will end up buying a Mityvac branded one next. You will also need an oil filter wrench, I bought one of those composite ones from Pep Boys and they don't work very well. I ended up buying one from the dealer instead.

Oil change after 1st 500 miles?
I've searched & read through many posts on this topic, but nothing conclusive.
Question is: worth the ~$150 to change the oil after the 1st 500 miles if I own the car & plan to keep it in the best working order? I saw a prior post that said do that only if you're super conservative.
Since I'm taking my car in this Friday for the winter tires/wheels installation, thought about the oil change. Of course it does not hurt to change the oil, but $150 saved is $150 saved, unless there is a fair chance this will help extend the life/performance of my engine.

I change my own oil every 3k and use the dealer at the recommended periods. Also, bought a prepaid six year plan for $500 that covers consumables like wipers, bulbs etc too. So net-net, I have a cheaper BMW style plan for longer. This was a dealer-thing, not a merc thing though.

Since my neighborhood association does not allow any car maintenance, I end up going to the dealer. They charged me $400 for service A and they said service B would be $799. I have not thought to broach the brakes topic with my SA yet. I just have a hard time believing you need to change the rotors on a car this soon. I have an '06 Z06—that I beat the crap out of—and still have not had to replace the rotors after 38,000 miles.

Mine doesn't either, per se. The CCRs state that we have to do it behind closed garage doors. In the summer, the garage heats up to about 130F with the door closed and I have been doing things with the door open. My neighbors don't mind. Of course, I don't run the air compressor all day.
