Is there a fix for the lousy AM radio reception?

I never post about anything except performance, but this is really bugging me.

During the fall and winter months Philly Sports Radio is great, 610 and 950 are the stations.

However, I only get listenable reception 50% of the time.
I mean, it is inaudible, the words are muffled so badly I can't make them out.

I get 1060, KYW News Radio OK, but the other two stations I can pretty much count on not getting, 610 being worse.

I called two Mercedes Service Depts and they pretty much either blew me off or told me that it is a problem, but there is no fix.

My father has a Mercedes SL550 and previously a S500, both AMs worked fine.
My wife's Lexus GX470 also fine.
My daughter has a 2007 Mustang GT, also fine.

For $64K+ I do believe I should have a workable radio.

Please, can anyone tell me a cheap fix, maybe a seperate AM antenna that works before I go crazy?

Howard

Had this been an issue on a standalone computing device I would simply suggest a hard reset to the electronics unit, but considering that this system is a part of the rest of our car's electronic unit try and see if you can pursue the Mercedes technicians to do that hard reset to the software for you.

If that does not work, your car is under warranty and that Antenna is under warranty and should be subject to change. I doubt it costs more than a $150 to have something like that replaced by Mercedes. Be very persistent with them or else..

I will be persistent for sure.
I just hate to leave my car there when all they can tell me "DUH" over the phone.

I find it hard to believe I am the only one with this problem.
Anybody else with this problem?

I think in the effort to get the car to be sleek and who knows where the AM antenna is, that AM reception suffered. I listen to everything on Serious and get it on Fox or ESPN radio.
The blade antenna probably doesnt have the AM antenna in it.
Its probably in the windshield. You can take it back and make sure its connected.

It was back there once, they did nothing and said it was normal.

Even my FM sucks in some parts of town. Only in the C63, though.

Yes... switch to FM or Sirius.
