Quote: So what did you do (or are going to do) with your SLK55?
I traded it in to the dealer...I miss it.

For some reason...SLK felt a bit faster, but I think it has to do with the loud exhaust I had on that car, haha.

I have driven both the C63 and the SLK55 on a track back to back, the C63 is definetely Much faster, you probably are still in the breaking period so you havent had the seat time yet, besides, the C63 is one of the loudest of all the AMG cars, the only one very slightly louder is the SL63, again, another car I had ample seat time on a track a few weeks back. Congrats, break her is properly, lots of patience required!

Quote: IThe M3 has substandard brakes and down on power. Its just not that same car. It may handle a bit better. but not worth the money. You WILL be sorry if you get the M3. The AMG has fallen in price since I bought it.
Paul,

First, I hope your surgery goes well, my girl has been in the Hospital a week now with phantom pains. But..... You keep saying the brakes on the M are "substandard". Explain, technically, not just "Its the same brake system as on a RAV4". I would like to see technical specs. I know on my ML63, the brakes are "acceptable" but the truck is too heavy for the current "substandard brakes" on it. Should have been a bigger brembo style brake. I like how the "cross drilled" doesn't even go all the way through. Its more like a "cross dimpled".. haha.. Hope you feel better. Speedy recovery pal!

Quote: < After all, even BMW decided the engine isn't what they thought it'd be and just last week (this week?) announced they are killing the V8 and going with a turbo 6 for the M's. >

Hey, if you don't mind telling..., what is the official source of this info.

Thanks
This is old news. Its not that they "don't like" the V8, they found the get better gas mileage and HP out of the Twin Turbo 6.

It may in fact be old news, but it's news to many of us...including everyone on the BMW CCA Forums. Just curious what/who is the "official source" of this change.

No "heresay", "word on the street is", or "four out of five dentists surveyed agree" that M3 will be changing from V8 to Turbo 6, or even...twin-turbo V8. Is there an "official source" available to reference? Thanks!

Here is just one source. I know Autospies did a report on this a while back. Topix and Motor Trend are now catching up.

bmw would never go for a turbocharged engine. the essence and whole concept of an ///M engine is being a naturally aspirated engine. as long as its for the ///M badged engines we wont see any turbocharged ones at least for now.

Thanks for the reference. Just got done reading the Autoweek article. I knew they were working on a twin-turbo V8 for the "M" series X6 and X5. Had a salesman very recently hint at BMW changing the V8 in the M3 as well; Possibly a twin-turbo V8.

They are on their way toward F/I engine. X6 M will be the first M with TT, then M5, M6, and M3. believe it or not

if i have extra money to spend on a car, i would get an E46 M3. its my favorite M
