Merry Christmas!

I have 3,300 miles and about 6 months of ownership. I am thinking of replacing the rears because they are giving me problems in the wet weather and are almost bald. Fustrating things KEEP SLIPPING! Thats not driving fast either. I am talking about taking a turn at 30-40 MPH.

I heard something about "Pilot" tires. I think they are by Bridgestone but not sure....Any Ideas Guys?

Thanks

It all depends on how you drive.. I need very soft tires but only get about 2k miles out of them. But it sure is a blast wearing them out.

+1 on Bridgestone RE-01R

Wow, that dealer raped you for 2 tires. You might want to check to make sure they didnt bill you for 4 tires.

normal

i chnage after 5000 km 3.500 miles (Disks and tires) on my Kleemann
now i use Yokohama, but with a highspeed on germ autobahn of 330 Km/h
i think it will not change a lot, becouse in the middle of the tires they are becoming slicks thanks of the highspeed. So.........a lot.cost a lot ciao

What choice of tires do you guys advise!

Thats me just done 5500mls and almost as bald as a seals head!

I currently have on Continental 255/30/19 But wish to change to something else, tried P-Zeros on my last car, wore in the middle after 4K of mileage.

Here in the UK the most exspensive tyre here is the Michelin ,even purchased from Costco.
regards
Eck

Replace them with Michelin PS2's. My favorite tires and honestly IMHO best tires you can buy.

Acute Perf, How much better is the wear on the PS2s compared to the Zeros? All I keep hearing is the the PS2s are sticky.....Does that mean its not soft?

Apologies for the naivenessness of this reply....

I ran both on my C55. Honestly I would call it even in the wear department. Both are very sticky and wear fast but thats the comprimize. The main difference is in the construction. The PS2 is a rounder shoulder build and the P-Zero is more squared off. That makes the PS2 float a little at speed and makes the P-Zero a little more predictable (IMHO). The PS2 definitely runs quieter (even over time and miles)

I went with the 19" P-Zero's on my C63 for the predictability but miss the quiet ride of the PS2. Ohhhh the dilemma!!!

Thanks North!

By floating you mean what exactly? The grip tends to be less at higher speeds with PS2s?

Also is there any noticeable difference in the ride with PS2s and is it best to replace all 4 Pzeros event hough the fronts r still good or have PS2s in the back and keep the Zeros in the front? I have never had to worry about tires till now as you can prob tell.......haha

No need to tell you about the massive torque on the E55 but my PS2'a lasted
almost 20K miles. They were fairly decent with the torque issue but the 55 could break chains let alone a pair of tires loose.

I'm thinking about the Toyo R888's for my C63. Some of the E63 guys have had good luck with them.

You can burn any tyre out in any time you want, depends how you use them. The new P Zero, as fitted to the C63 is an exceptional tyre, and has outstanding performance in both wet and dry. It is the reference tyre now for Audi , BMW and Mercedes. It is a big improvement on the Rosso. The Bridgestone is great in the dry, but is poor in the wet and is very harsh, the Michelin PS2 is a good all round tyre too, but behind both the Pirelli and Bridgestone in the dry. In the end the car makers test for 2 years before choosing the tyres they fit, so you have to assume they know what they are doing. I would stick to what is fitted to the car, on the C63 keep the traction on, and check those inflation pressures to avoid premature wear.If you shop around, prices tumble too. If all you want to do is burnouts, and in a C63 you can do that easily, just buy anything black and round.... Thats my take on it all

Have you all never had a performance car before? you have almost 500hp and you have a 280 wear rated tire and you are in for a short relationship. I had a 80 wear rating on my Porsche GT3. I got 3500 miles out of them. So I expect twice the mileage OR LESS. The C63 breaks loose infinitely more than my Porsche EVER did. So look at the wear rating of the tire you want and stay out of the throttle.
AND all you guys wanted a 19" wheel in the USA??LOL those tires
are $200 MORE than a 18" tire!!!! I Know I had 19s on the GT3 and went to 18s as fast as I could. The 18s were much cheaper. We dont have 13" tires where tires are $45 each. try Costco
But Hey dont ever buy a REAL sports car or you guys are are IN Trouble.

At 6 months and 8633 miles, my tires are now bald.

Going to the tire shop tomorrow to get new skins mounted.

I personally think it is shoddy research by MB. There isn't enough tire on the rear of the car given the weight and torque. I have several high horsepower cars and can get 15K miles out of the rears with little noticeable difference between front and rear wear.

Getting 7,200 miles out of the rear is a crime considering how I drive (like a grandma). Car should have 275s or 285s like the black series.
