Be wary

Hi folks,

if you purchase a left hand drive C63 or C class merc in general in countries where right hand drive is usual, then there is a good chance that the vehicle will generally steer to the left by it`s own.
It`s a known problem (MB said so) and my car suffers from it, so I thought that I would give you the heads up.

Never the less, I still love the C63... don`t get me wrong... Afterall it is a rocket ship built into a small size sedan.

Hope this is helpful for someone.

That makes almost no sense at all...not so much your post, but MB's diagnosis of the problem. Buying a left-hand-drive car in Japan, for example, just means you're getting a grey-market import. The car shouldn't be materially different from other left-hand-drive cars in North American and/or European markets.

By your dealer's reckoning, all our cars here should also steer itself to one side. I can assure you mine does not.

It's more likely you need an alignment fix.

Get the car aligned properly by a professional at a well known dealership, not the one whose giving you wrong information... and why exactly would you be driving a left hand driver car in a country where it's right hand drive!? Did you ask for it to be that way?

I got this car the way it is for several reasons:
a good deal
it doesn`t really matter which side your steering wheel is on in Japan as they are accustomed to accommodate both (eg. toll booth has tickets on both sides).

They did fix the problem of steering under warranty, but mentioned that this happens a LOT.

Then take it back to them and have them look at the steering column.. that is a high performance vehicle, you can't afford to risk a bad steering wheel.
