Launch Advice

Before I begin with performance upgrades, I plan to get some runs in with the car stock.(Keith if you have a track day planned let me know) My question pertains to launch tactics that have worked for others. My car does not have an LSD so I assume ESP off is out of the question. I will be using street tires considering they are just about slicks anyway.

I'm curious about other peoples techniques too.

Lots of people say ESP-Sport with Sport setting, then either quickly roll onto WOT or just floor it WOT. I might just suck at it, but I still get lots of wheel spin this way, (but less than with ESP-Off)

Also, what tire pressures do you all use for stock wheels and tires?

And I would say roll in to wide open throttle to avoid as much wheel spin as possible.

1. do ecu reset
2. make sure you put your tire to about 26 psi
3.do a 5 sec burn out and make sure both your tires spining (i also dont have lsd) do this in M mode 1st gear.
while doing your 5 sec burn out when you let go of the breaks keep your foot on the gas and spin as you go.
STEP 3 VERY IMPORTANT.
4. line up and push u break all the way down and easy on the gas to about 2000rmp. hold ther till light goes green and then full smash.

IF YOU GET A BAD TIME THE 1ST RUN ITS OK. most likely your car will bog the 1st run doing what im saying to do. after your car wont bog no more.

also my friend has a c63 bone stock he ran a 12.201 at 114.xx same way.

thats how i got 12.2 and a bounch of 12.3 good luck.

p.s you can also do what i said in dyno mode if you like.

If you are in neutral and revving the engine can you pop it into first gear while doing this?

lol, good luck with yoru car.

i have trouble launch my car too, too much wheel spin.

i usually ease on 1st gear and floor it at 2nd gear(and it still spins). 3rd and so on, i have no problem.

What do you guys keep your tire pressures at for regular driving and street racing? The door panel says like 45 psi rear and 40 psi front. mthis said 26 psi for serious drag racing. I don't want to keep changing pressures every other day.

Also (off topic) - I guess because of the way I've been taking off from every red light, my rear tires will need to be replaced real soon - I'm at 2900 miles now. (I only seriously burnout about once a week though.)

Any thoughts on tires that are the best compromise between performance and durability?
Also if I want get 265 rears but the 235 fronts are still in good shape - is that going to be a problem with rid, performance, noise, etc?

(No more 'alsos')

esp off or dyno mode. you can feel the car when both tires spin or when only one spins. if that dont work have smeone look and tell you.

*if you do a 1 wheel peal. go back to the water spot and wet your tires agin. i seen people break axel trying to do a burn out after stoped tryed to do agin and then snap.

for regular i keep them at 36-38psi drag 26.

tires if you dont want to change the front. go with the same brand and make of tire perelli p zero 265/35/18 they make that. and they very good. if you want to go bigger the pilot sport2 are no joke. if you wanna get craxy like me mickey tom et2 and drive around. THE BEST

mthis?
How do you do an ECU reset?
Are you suggesting that the C63 has some sort of launch control?
does this only work with ESP off, or will it work with ESP sport also?

ok ecu reset.

1.get in car and close all doors.
2.before you do anything else keep your foot on the gas all the way down.
3.out key in pos.3 dont start the car.(while holding the gas down, hold the gas down for 10 sec with the key in pos.3 then shut off car while holding the gas down and DONT TAKE THE KEY OUT. one you turn key to pos.0 let the gas go. now just stay in your car for 2 min with out touching anything and you good to go.

good luck.

oh if you get tration with esp sport fine it will work. i have 2 friend that have c63. one of them swears ok esp sport that its the best me and the other one hate it.

ther is NO launch control we the drive make that our selfs.

the ecu reset all it does is it takes everything to factory shift points. not to how you drive it. it will reset driving style of your car.

the easy way to do this is get a MHP tune they take care off 90% or more of this problem. anyone plese feel free to correct me if im wrong .

BTW: LSD has NO impact on a straight line launch. That is unless your track has oil on the one side where one tire runs. It only has benefit on multi mu surfaces OR cornering.

not true.

i had my car spin 1 wheel after the 60 foot mark.

that slows you down.

anyway, what ever kind or racing you doing wheel spin loses time. the people that you see drifting while driving aound a track they just trying to be cool. if you ever watch any videos of people trying to get the best time they try the best not to slide or spin the tires.
