Plead guilty if you can to faiulre to obey a traffice device, aka same fine, NO points. Or as was stated above, anything less than 6 over the limit is ZERO points, and ZERO increase in insurance. Again, how do I know this, IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME, and of course my wife, aka mad max. She really needs to slow down

I only have one ticket so far. "Accelerated Start" is what they call it. Tires didn't spin though. I was getting on GA 400 (freeway) and stepped on it the minute I got on the on-ramp. I hit the speed limit at the end of the ramp, and when I merged onto the freeway the lights came on. It seems the cop "feels" that I was going faster on the on ramp than he was on the freeway. I merged right infront of him and he hit the lights.

I'll fight it. See what happens.

Thanks great to know, thank you. Last week my court hearing went well--pleaded 5 MPH over limit, no points, paid fine. So if all goes well, this should not affect my insurance as you say. However, I thought this still shows up on the driving record, but perhaps insurance companies only look at entries that trigger points?

The ONLY kicker is now you are stuck with whatever insurance carrier you have for the next two years. IF you try to change insurance companies now, they will run your DMV record, and YES they will STICK it to you. Just keep paying your bill, and in two years from the date of the plea, NOT citation, feel free to shop around again

See yeah

Unfortunately, my policies are 6-month terms, not 2 year terms

Thats okay my friend, as my policy is 6 month as well. Just keep paying it, aka DON'T contact them, or try to change companies. Pay the bill when it comes, because there will NOT be any change. My progressive/geico/Nationwide, NEVER changed do to POINTLESS tickets, as long as I kept paying them.

Good luck, chin up, you'll be okay

See yeah

Cool man. My premium adjustment from my 2006 C2S Cab to my 2009 Carrera TT will be hefty enough (which I'll probably see in the mail shortly).

Search this forum for Escort 9500ci. Radar detectors are useless against Instant-on radar which hit me both times. Best chance of defeating Instant-on is to follow a rabbit far enough away and hope the cop shoots the rabbit (a good RD will pickup on the scatter). However, your rabbit may be the 1st car that shoots by the officer and he will then "wake up" and shoot what is likely the trailing car.

Some states use laser. My 9500ci blocks the laser and I successfully blocked an "attack" in Maryland. Any laser detector will only give you advance warning that you're about to get a ticket.

"Accelerated Start" - what the hell is that? Is there a law against getting up to the speed limit in a certain amount of time? I have never heard of that? I say fight it.

I got one ticket, had the Escort 8500 it never went off because he never used radar. He said he paced me. I don't have any idea of the legalness of a speeding ticket via pacing by a cop but it was my first in California in 18 months so I paid it and took driving school to get the points removed.

No idea. I think the cop is The law refers to "accelerated start" as a burn out type thing. But, according to the cop there is a "speed limit" on an on/off ramp. I asked what it was, he said 55.

It's very difficult to out smart a laser trap. I had a chance to hold one in my hands in few weeks back. All you it need is one second on a target to get your speed. Laser pointer at the target follow with a speed reading.

.
In Pittsburgh, they get you for "Rapid acceleration" aka Reckless driving. 3 points about $170, and the kicker is your insurance goes up. I was nailed for it once, MANY years ago. Fought localy, and lost. Took it up the ladder and with a judge, had it dismissed. My defense was "I want an officer of the law on EVERY freeway on ramp, because EVERYONE is guilty of accelerating from 0-55" Gallery laughed out loud, judge tossed it

See yeah

Oh yeah, the kicker of it all, after ward the douch cop asks me "No hard feelings" I laughed and used a few choice words Certianly I didn't mind loosing a few days pay to get a BS ticket tossed. What a clown
