I wonder how hard it is to tell from your rear view mirror that the car behind you is a C63. I was behind a young chap in a Z4 M recently. He was the first car at the red light and I was directly behind him. When the light turned green, he floored it. I moved off at a normal pace, and wound up beside him at the next light. At that point, he looked over and saw the 6.3 AMG on the car's flank, and instead of flooring it this time, he moved off the line very slowly.

I suppose he might have been hoping I would play so that he could hear the full fury of the AMG engine. Naturally, I obliged by revving it a bit harder. His response? A thumbs up as he caught up and eventually turned off to a side street.

Should just be a jpeg file accessible when you sync your device to your computer. There's an option to use the device as mass storage - then just explore/find the device via 'my computer' and copy the image(s)

LOL maybe he didn’t want to be embarrassed?

Would you try and race a Porsche turbo or GT2? no point...

You're so right. Lots of guys just don't want to lose face because they let their ego get in the way. But I do like to see those kinds of cars you mentioned in action. If they speed up a little and I can't keep up or it's dangerous to do so, at least I got to see and hear something that I wouldn't normally get to see and hear.

It's all good!

I was driving down a major thoroughfare today on my way to work, and for the entire stretch I was alongside another black AMG, a CLS55. It was an older gentleman driving it. We just drove at the speed limit the entire way and all the other cars just kept back so they could see the two cars side by side. It's kind of amusing.

I've also seen lots of people hang back and take out their cameras and cell phones to snap pictures and take videos when some of my friends and I go for highway cruises.

Maybe we're all starving for attention.

I had a very similar experience with the new Acura TL. It was funny.

I agree, I would actually love to race those types of cars because it is very rare when you get a chance to.

I don’t mind if I lose... I am actually curious to see how I keep up and how their cars sound, etc...

Oh, I saw a black C63 yesterday (and it wasn't my own). I was driving to a shopping mall and I was 2 cars behind another black C63. I never really realized this until now....this is one sexy looking car!! Especially when you see it from a sitting position in another vehicle rather than standing up and looking down on the car.

Makes you feel good all over...

For C63s, I usually give a little head nod/casual wave. Did it to a RS4 driver once, and he totally ignored the gesture like the RS4 was superior. M3s, forget it, you know what that would be like!

I know exactly what you mean. The danger, though, is failing to recognize that we can't judge all drivers of certain cars as being of a certain type of personality. I have plenty of friends driving M3s who are down to earth, and personable. And there are RS4 drivers who've initiated those friendly gestures of acknowledgement that you've mentioned. It all boils down to the luck of the draw, I guess.

OK so, I will try not to make this one so "cockily-written" as my other replies have been (since I SWEAR I am not a cokk in "real life", just trying to keep up my "internet persona" ya know!) But... tonight I finally went toe-to-toe with an M3 on city streets as I neared home...

We had been checking each other out, playing coy, playing it cool. Being "gentlemen" as we motored down the road Finally, our moment arrived. By chance we both ended up at the line at a stoplight. I looked over and smiled and gave him the thumbs up. He at first looked shocked at my attempt to communicate. Then he made some hand motions... looked like a friendly guy. I rolled down my window and said "how do you like your M3?" I can't remember his response, I was only thinking of this thread which has consumed me for the last 24 hours (dang you, Sebring!) so the next words out of my mouth were "I guess we're supposed to street race now" and I laughed. Then I said "you go ahead, and I'll listen to your exhaust" The light turned green... he must have had DCT cuz I noticed he was a little slow off the line... then he took off like MAD. The M3 sounded sweet of course I hung back and took off like the plebe that I am.... I stayed within the speed limit but had no chance of catching him... because he must have been going 80mph! I pushed it up past the legal limit but within reason to try to catch him, but it was no use. He made the next light well before I got there. So I never saw him again.

HD
sounds like a romance novel with an unhappy ending. Do you still think about him on lonely nights?

I just look straight and dont make eye contact. I sit quitly and hope not to anger the beast. Or give them the , and be one my way.

Oh... and then I look for a slower car and take them out, just to make myself feel powerful again. lol

Well I cant seem to get a good run from anyone. ISF's are a waste of time. I take them out with my B5 S4. I have only come across one RS4 but he wouldn't do anything but look. My wife cant drive a standard transmission so she cant race me with my own B7 RS4.
.
My S4 has given quite a few M3s a run with us running quite even.

My RS4 eats up M3s for breakfast lunch dinner and desert

I can only imagine that our C63s will do the same. What Im really looking for is a run against my own car.....hmmmmm

I hear you as a fellow Seattle-lite. So many Vettes, Porsches, Bimmers and all - and very few pushing them... what a waste.

It'd be weird, but I'm down to meet up and run....
