Piloti driving shoes

Probably wrong forum for this, but does anyone have experience with Piloti driving shoes, or any other driving shoes? They seem kinda silly to me, but at the same time sorta cool too to have Nomex lined shoes in case I go down in flames - at least my feet will be recognizable. In Texas, for 9 months each year, I pretty much just drive in flip-flops - not exactly high performance footwear. Of course I've never been to a track or dragstrip - so maybe this is required equipment there? I was wondering what you all think.

Driving shoes aren't required but long pants are. There was a guy at ECR this weekend wearing Red Wings.
There are plenty of chances to get on the strip or track in DFW, it helps to relieve the need for speed. PM if you need details.

I wear Piloti shoes, but just at the track. They will give much better throttle control over casual shoes and are very comfortable.

I don't have the nomex shoes, just the standard "Prototipo" . Pretty good value too, for $80.

not a whole lot of point in an automatic car to me.

I just wear my driving mocassins, unless I'm headed to the track.
