Installed Detector/Jammer or Wheels?
First off, I'd like to know which seems like a better investment - 9500ci and LI Quad, or a new set of rims/tires.
I live in Raleigh, NC, and law enforcement is not too tough around here. I've never seen a real speed trap besides one near a high school a couple of times. Though I do plan to travel a lot between Raleigh and Wilmington, as well as to Myrtle Beach.
Question - Would getting new wheels and slowing down a bit (having less fun) be worth the protection I would gain from a jammer and detector? I have yet to see any wheels that really stood out to me. Which leads me to my second question..
Secondly, right now I am running the stock wheels, and they are preforming adequately. I have a steel gray c63, and I have yet to find a set of wheels that truly make me say "wow" when I think about them on my car. Would anyone be able to suggest a wheel that would fit my car perfectly? I know steel gray is rather rare in a world of black/white/silver Mercedes, but someone has to have seen one, or can at least give me an idea of what would look nice.
I have 20% all around and I am planning to smoke my tails soon. I would not be opposed to blacking out my silver trim and getting black rims. Any opinions on how that would look?
Sorry for the long(er) thread
, but I don't really know any more than 1 car enthusiast irl, so getting advice is actually a difficult task for me.Any help would be appreciated.
as for performance with aftermkt wheels, it really depends what your looking for...if you find something thats lighter (most likely a forged one piece wheel) in an 18" diameter, you'll improve performance. But most guys that do wheels tend to do it for looks as am I. So im going up to 19" and probably sacrificing some handling and adding more weight than I would hav if I opted for an 18" option in the same style.
since you said wow factor, Im assuming you're looking for something bigger than 18"
wheels are #1 on my mod list, but im not out there ripping it up on the highways (i do hav a radar detector already)

im getting a race mesh style wheel with a lip - i ordered them from modulare and there arent any pics yet
Ive just always like the look of that style ever since the CSL wheels for the e46 M3 I had (and I also really like the look of a wheel with a lip)...if you're unfamiliar take a look at 360 forged mesh 8's, but with a straighter spoke design. Thats just my preference. Its a 3 piece wheel with a chrome lip and brushed center with black painted inner barrels. Definitley more blingy than performance.
Most of the guys here seem to go with HRE, Id advise you to take a look at their site - great wheels - light and strong, i just wanted something I see less of.
For me wheels were priority #1. For those of you tracking and driving it very hard, yes I'd say driving school is a great investment - definitely something down the road for me
