KW V3 lowering question

I'm having a set of KW V3 coilovers installed this week and am wondeing if any of the members that have them installed are also running the stock 18 inch wheels with 245/35 fronts and 275/30 rears. I want to drop the car, but don't want to create rubbing issues so I thought I'd ask if anyone has this setup and if so, how much of a drop were you able to get?

TIA,

Mike

Some guys are running 275 on the rear with no problem you may have to roll your front fenders.

I'd like to drop it about 3/4" - 1" to get about a finger gap from tire to fender. Not looking to have the tire up inside the fender.

I'd also like to lower mine about 1/2" to 3/4" all around. But when I called a local shop they said the KW sets would lower it over an inch as a minimum.

I'd be interested in hearing what the minimum lowering available is because the place I called had not installed them on an MB yet and they did say it varies from car-to-car.

I lowered my car about 1-1/4" Also, with the KW V3s you don't have to lower it at all if you don't want, in fact you could probably raise the car. I think your shop is misinformed Krytech.

I have basically no gap between the tire and fender, and to be honest it doesn't look that much lower than stock, although the stance is noticeably improved. My Audi which has no gap as well looks lower, even though it's not...just the different body shape.

Dropped the car off today to have the KWs installed, a corner balance and alignment done. I told them to drop it about 1" and see how that works. They are going to set -2 degrees camber on the alignment and set the damping/rebound to a click firmer than mid point. We'll see how she does at TWS on those settings.

Post install pics to follow.

Why not just get springs? Coilovers IMO only if your gonna track the car, if you are then go with coilovers. If not get H&R springs .75 almost an inch all around.

Noone really notices the difference between springs and coilovers unless is track use IMO

The minimum drop with the correct KW's for the C63 is .2" on the front and zero" for the rear.

The range allows up to a 1.2" drop which can and will vary from vehicle to vehicle.

I picked up my beast Friday after the coilover install, corner balance and alignment. The car looks perfect with the drop and the handling is amazing. I spent the weekend at the track and the car is just phenomenal with this setup. I'll post up before and after pics tomorrow. (I need to wash the car as it is really dirty from the track.) The 245 fronts and 275 rears fit without any rubbing issues.

KW V3s FTW!

Congrats on the new setup. I knew you were going to love it! The KW V3s really do transform the car...no better way to describe then to experience it for yourself.

I also wanted to add that Adam, Steve and the entire team at Autoscope did a spectacular job on the install for me. The install was done quickly, on short notice and finished up on schedule for me to be ready to go to my track weekend. They dialed things in exactly as I had requested on my ride height and alignment settings and tweaked things as needed to ensure no rubbing or other issues. I pushed the car hard at the track and it performed great!

Autoscope FTW!!!

Adam even went so far as to take pictures during the install and put them into a compilation on a DVD that he left for me. Nice record of the mod!

That's awesome service and the ride looks great. Any more reviews from the track experience and the changes in your handling?

The handling of the car in stock performance package form was already very good. Going with the V3s obviously lowers the center of gravity of the car, but also reduced body roll, squat on acelleration and dive on braking. All three beneficial in the handling department. The car also feels smoother through transition from one turn to the next through a series of esses or in a slalom. High speed stability is also improved, although it was already very good. Overall I would say the improvement is everything I was looking for. I'm also sure I can fine tune the compression and rebound settings to get it dialed in even more for track use. My goal is to determine a track and a street set of settings and alternate between them as needed.

I think the key thing to keep in mind is that the car was already a great handling machine and the KW V3s just take it to the next level.

qship, did they actually get 2 or more degrees of negative camber. How is this done on the C63. Its almost impossible to get more than 1 degree on my C55, even after buying negative camber bolts.

I have the KW V3's on mine and it is pretty low. It rubbed like crazy but a little fender rolling/grinding took care of it. When you set the height understand that it will settle over the next several days and potentially drop another 1/4 inch from where you initially set it.

As far as performance goes, it is night and day. The car feels and drives like a totally different car. When I drove one with the stock suspension it felt like an E350- HA.

This is a great mod and you will love it.

Mind I chime in?

LF was -1.9, RF was -2.5. All from the coil overs (lower ride height). I did not make any bolt adjustments.
