C63 Airbox Upgrade - Question?

I know this question may have been asked indirectly in the past, but
I just can seem to find the right answer.

Here goes :

Has anyone done an Airbox upgrade on it's own - in other words
not the same time as an ECU flash or header install.

If yes what were the gains and whick make?

What difference will an Airbox upgarde make to a car that has already
got headers, software and de-cat?

Cannot decide if spending that kind of money if justified or not.

Thanks

It is generally hard to show gains from a larger airbox on a dyno. The fans they use in dyno shops can not simulate 70 mph winds or 100 mph winds, etc..... Some people have dynoed their cars and showed no gains while others dynoed and showed a little bit of gain. When the Carbonio CF Airboxes were first released, VRP (the first company to release them) claimed a gain of 15 to 20 hp and 15 to 20 tq on a stock car. However, results have been very inconsistent (on the dyno). It would be much easier to measure the gains directly on the track. The more modded your car is, the easier it is for your car to maximize benefits from the upgraded air box.

I would agree with the previous statement. You will not see much gain on a dyno, but I did the airbox mod by itself and did notice a difference in the car. Huge...No, but noticeable. I also like the way the CF dresses things up under the hood.

Thanks guys.

Anyone done the Renntech Airbox, looks ugly but I was wondering if it was any better than the others.
