I have driven both. It felt pretty close. The C63 weighs less obviously, but is a tad down on power in comparison.

SL63 - 4905 lbs @ 4.5 0-60
C63 - 4784 lbs @ 4.3 0-60
This is according to the Mercedes-AMG website. On paper it appears that the C63 is a tad quicker.
Who knows though, I thought that the SL63 would negate the weight difference with the additional horsepower and MCT gearbox.

edit:
from Road & Track, June 2008:
And although it makes the scales groan at a 3920-lb. curb weight, the 451-bhp C63 leaps off the mark to a test-best 4.1-sec. sprint to 60 mph, and a ground-shaking 12.5-sec. pass through the quarter mile.
The C63's curb weight is about 3800 pounds, so the power-to-weight ratio stands at about 8.4 pounds for every horsepower, and Mercedes-Benz estimates a 0-to-62-mph time of 4.5 seconds.

1/4 gas in the car with me in the car 180 lb car was 4068lb.
0-80 the c63 stays in front then the 518hp 7 speed mct sl63 kicks in like a rocket. So it's all what u looking for. More top end or light to light.
Now if u get a c63 with a tune (ecu anykind) the SL63 can't keep up.

a C63 weighs 4784 pounds? My '04 S55 is 4300. Are you sure that 4784 shouldn't be 3784?

Fantasm and I traded cars for a few days and when we returned them we did a couple of runs on PCH. His SL63 has the resonators removed, and mine has the Evosport/Powerchip ECU tune. We ran from about 30 to 100 or 110 and I had about a 1 to 1 1/2 car lengths on him both times, and was slowly pulling still even at that point.
