He writes a nice write up and then ends it with discussion of his hope, perhaps the BM may be better. What a jerk.

i doubt it. seriously. everything that was wrong with previous AMGs is corrected in the C63. lets hope they contiune this sort of progress.

Nice! Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed every minute of the article. The guy is dead on with everything about our cars. I'll always love the thumbs ups, the stares & even the asking to hear the exhaust note! And after i park it and get out, I too look back with awe and think "that is one mean muth*$%&@! I have!

Yes, I find myself doing the "turn around and gawk as I walk away" thing A LOT...even in the friggin Target parking lot. I even mute my sat radio when I downshift, just to listen to the rev-matching and 2nd and 3rd gear exhaust "burples." I'm in complete AWE. I wonder if all this will wear off after a while? Naw, I doubt it...I'll be doing it for years.

I think a lot of us are enamored with this car not simply because it sounds the way it does, but because it's a Mercedes and it sounds the way it does.

sir you hit the nail on the head. lots of people love the mercedes.... but after they hear the 63 rev and idle..... its like instant sex appeal. thats what made me buy this damn thing. im not usually shelling out 60Gs for a car.... but this is amazing.... hell i wanted an E55 but after hearing this thing it was all over... kindof like sex with a mute verses sex with an escort who screams like SHE is paying for it and not you! lol

Yes, the big 6.2L V8 + quad AMG exhaust is what got me hooked in the first place as well; just knowing that it runs 0-60mph in ~ 4.3sec. and 1/4mi. in ~ 12.5sec. @ 114mph is the icing on the cake!

As quoted from the article:

Weighing in at nearly 3,650 lbs it is only 11 lbs heavier than a C350 and about 80 pounds lighter than a BMW M3 sedan.
That can't be correct, right? Eighty lbs lighter than a E90?

MBUSA (Mercedes-AMG.com/usa) lists the C63 AMG at 3,814lbs.

Nice review. I never test drove one before my order, I was able to sit in one and start it up though...I WAS IN LOVE THE MINUTE I TURNED THE KEY.

Since I had one of the first ones in Canada, I hadnt even seen one, nor sat or heard one when I ordered it in March 2008, I wanted one thanks to all the reviews from all the car mags in Europe and the early videos on youtube, there were only a handful of members who recieved theirs and I listened to their reviews and actions, this is where a forum like this is invaluable to the rest of the world.

thanks for posting the link to a well written article. He has captured the very essense of what I love about this car. I too bought this car sight unseen having never driven or even sat in one, just based on the overseas review plus the fact that none of the local dealers would even entertain an opportunity to test drive one! Having said that of all the cars I have ever driven or owned 2 cars stand out - the BMW 2002tii from the early 1970s and this C63 AMG. Both are poles apart but have one common denominator, they bring a huge grin to the face - the latter has way more power but bring on the twisty hills roads and both are in their element!
