guys come on maxima is a good car for its money lol but yea if i see a car that is obviously much faster than me i won't bother.

You win= the guy didn't try and think you are a poor retard

You lose = still look like a retard who drives a slow car but wanna go fast

My friend wit his gtr always asked me to race on da highway after watching late nite movie and i just say no everytime.

really sometimes no point

Dont get me wrong I acually bought a new one in 1994. Charcoal Grey SE with a 5 speed. It had a 190 HP 190 Torque, ABS, white gauges, BOSE and sunroof. But that was then, lets not live in the past, the Maxima is a great car but it's no longer 4DSC.

Don't think that anyone has called this out yet, but since the OP is in Canada, I'm assuming that he was referencing kph and not mph.

110kph is a lot less controversial than 110mph...

Maxima
The point is...

The point is it takes any luxury car company at least three times more money to even come close to what the Nissan Maxima offers at $30,000 -- Further more, anyone can put there foot on a petal in a straight line, I would put up my 3.0 NAS Manual 5-Speed 2000 Maxima against your automatic luxury car on a real road with turns and curves, any day. Because as any real driver knows, if you're not driving a manual, you're not driving.

Lastly I'd like to point out the soul purpose of this post was so you could brag about how much money you spent on a vehicle, the sure sign of over-compensation. For what? I'm sure it's not too hard to figure out.

But as we know, haters will hate.

LOL...so much lol. Anyone who knows cars realizes that the best handling cars on the road are Ms, AMGs, and Audi RSes (without getting too exotic). No one ever talks about a Maxima in the curves...you might be the only one...EVER. Hell, I never talked about my Acura TL in the curves. At least 3 of those cars I've mentioned above (including the Acura TL/CL) come in a stick and could stomp a stock Maxima.

Come to think of it, for $30-40k, I can think of several cars that can whoop your *** - Mazda MX5, Subaru WRX (probably doesn't even have to be an STi), Mini Cooper S (doesn't even have to be a John Cooper Edition), Fiat Abarth could probably take you in the turns (does your Maxima come with a track day?), and the list goes on.

Point is, AMGs do it with more style, more comfort, and more panache...and way more tire smoke. If you've come on this board just to "defend yourself against haters" then please leave. You're obviously not as classy as we are because we don't trash talk on YOUR boards.

i was reading how old this post was and saw who bumped it. Well okay.....
Anyways at 17 i had a 92 Maxima SE and it was advertised as the first four door sports car (well mass production) on tv and the magazines. It competed against the Taurus SHO which had slightly more horsepower and was pretty much its only competition. No one else offered this kind of car.........Both cars came equipeed with the manual with automatics offered later on. The m5 wasnt really mass produced and was very rare.
The rationale for calling the maxima a sports car was that it took it's motor from the 300ZX NA. Although it was front wheel drive, it handled great for it's class. The cheaper Sentra SE-R is personally my favorite FWD car. It really did handle like a BMW regardless of which wheels drove it.

Nowadays the Maxima has shyed away from its sport car heritage. The next generation car wasnt the same car. Keep in mind too the Maxima in it's home/overseas market played little brother to the Nissan Cefiro and the four door Nissan GT-R R32 which was truly a four door sports car with no doubt.

First of all, if you could really drive in anything other than a straight line, you'd know a cars handling heavily relies on a driver. The car handles differently in different gears, it's selecting which gear to use at the apex of a turn that makes for handling. I'm not saying the car has no physical limitations, I just don't think you know what you're talking about.

Secondly, yes, the listed cars (year 2013, properly tuned with $10,000 worth of work post-market) may beat my twelve year old usty piece of **** in shear torque down a quarter mile. And that's still maybe. I get it, you don't like maximas and you're the ****. But you don't know what you speak of.

As to your last point, I don't give a flying **** where you talk ****. I don't frequent forums, I just made this account literally today with the soul purpose of telling *******s like you that their bank account doesn't make up for being not being able to drive, and that they ought to have better things to do than sit around and tell strangers how awesome they are.

This thread basically confirms 2 of my opinions.
1) Nissan Maxima is a slow FWD POS car.
2) Nissan (Altima / Maxima) drivers are the biggest morons both on street and in Internet forums, more so, based on the noob who bumped this 4 year old thread just to say his 12 yr old POS maxima is a real drivers car, just because he's actually shifting manually.

Doesn't matter that it's a FWD
Doesn't matter that it's not even in the same class/category
Doesn't matter that no one here gives a **** about manual transmission POS cars
Doesn't matter that this is not a Honda accord forum

That is what I was thinking. I thought it's usually the BMW guys that come and do this and vice-versa with some of the guys here posting over on their forums. Plus, it is an ancient thread. LMAO!

Now, the VQ35 equipped cars are nice.

my wife bananas! :D
not really much to add to this necro'd thread except that the maxima now is just a sliver of its past glory. doesnt have enough to stand out beyond an insanely crowded marketplace.

on a side note, I had a honda civic do something similar to me today except it started off with him not deciding till he had to drive on solid white lines to figure out he wanted to go East/West instead of staying on the N/S hwy. and he did that lane cut without accelerating and signalling so i had to brake pretty hard to not rear end him. Then he brake checks me after I give him a symphony of horns once merged on to the hwy, he gunned it and I let my car do what it does best.... all i saw was a puzzled look on the dude's face wondering how is it possible a lowly c class can beat his godly stock civic with dark tints and an aggressive wing.
