The insurance company will definitely write it off as a total loss or totaled. If you want to keep it for parts make you sure tell the agent that you want to buy it before they cut a check. Otherwise it will be harder to buy it back from the salvage yard that gets it.

I would have a hard time believing there is no chassis damage and or misalignment from that accident which would certainly mean a total lost.

Like Mopparbust said, high hit. It went over the lower front rails.

I'm sure the insurance will love that. "Oh sure you want it to be a total loss? We'll take care of that for you, no problem"

LOL. Get real dude.

FYI, just a 2009 6.3 AMG bare engine block is $13,000. I agree it looks like a high hit, without engine damage-my guess is they'll want to fix it.

A competent CERTIFIED repair shop can fix it. If he was able to open the door and step out-it isn't that bad. Almost ANY impact will tweak a unibody car, with todays technology it can be put right. I agree 100% bigbodybeeenz-get real- with insurance fraud being so aggressively investigated-"Making it a total loss"-kinda bull****, just doesn't happen like it used to.

I wouldn't want that car either. I would request that they total loss it. That car will probably never be the same after that.

+1

Those pics should urge people to SLOW DOWN too. Painful to see in that condition.

I'm curious whether it was totaled or not. I'm guessing not.

Still no update. FJ says now that before looking under the hood they're sat $42K to repair which is very close to total loss. Keep in mind, that's before looking under the hood. Total is at about $48k so ...

FYI. slowing down doesn't substitute for paying attention.

Slowing down is a great place to start, as it tends to give one more reaction time to avoid catastrophic $50K mistakes, even when distracted. Regardless, at least your friend is OK.

Extensive damage, and once they pull back the layers and fully discover what really needs to be replaced, the bill could skyrocket easily.

Hurts just looking at it.

traffic traffic traffic

It sucks that the population keeps growing and more and more ppl keep learning how to drive and polluting the streets with their cars.

Driving a fast car slowly sucks. I hope heaven has a maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad super highway with massive straights and nice bends. And free fuel.

Sorry i know but im having an annoying day at work.

2005 G35
I was T-boned in my brand new G35 after 2 weeks of ownership. Airbags deployed etc. and All State would not total the vehicle. The body shop had to go back for 2 "supplementals" for work that had to be done after they got in there and started fixing things. I tried every thing I could to get the car totalled and in the end they spent over $25K fixing a $35K car.

I did get a deminished value check from All State for $5K and kept the car 4 more years. They did a fantastic job fixing it and it drove great at speeds up to 130 with no problems. I ended up trading the car in for my C63 and was only docked $800 from the trade-in value since the accident was in a store parking lot and did not show up on Carfax (I told them about it).

If you have engine damage I would think that it would push you over the top. I think it also depends on the Insurance Co. on how hard they fight to not total the car though...

Well, the verdict is in. Ready? It's a total loss!
They don't have an exact estimate yet but they're declaring it a total loss and FJ already sent the car to the total loss yard for AAA. Now we'll see how much AAA will pay for an almost new C63 as replacement cost. If it's a fair amount I'll switch to AAA myself.

Looks like it's going to a yard in Carson. Not sure what they're planning to do with it though. I hope they put it up for auction whole cause parted out I'm not sure it'll bring back the $ for many many years, these cars are so new that they no one will need parts for a long while. I personally would just take the CPU and keep that so I could have two, a stock one and a hacked one. Other than that, maybe wheels and brakes,... some interior pieces. What else would you want off that car now?
