Brake pedal feel/response...

I did some spirited driving through the mountains over the weekend and the brakes felt mushy. They worked fine, but didn't have that bite or seem all that responsive at high speeds. Anyone have similar opinions about the brake feel?

Has anyone upgraded to the S.S. brake lines and/or changed the pads to something else? If so, did it help any?

wow unless you are used to ferrari or 911 turbo's brakes it really can't get better than the amg's brake.

I took C63 on the track and the brake had so much bite it was simply over kill. I mean unless you are doing are doing time attack on the track or doing a full super hard track day or you are just braking way to late you shouldn't feel any fade with the stock brake setup

Never had any problems with the brakes, but I did upgrade to SS lines. There is a difference in pedal firmness and modulation, but nothing huge. I've found these brakes to be very track worthy.

Thanks for the replies. I have yet to take the car on a road course but I'm glad to hear they are great on the track, especially for a 4,000 lb car which is probably part of the sensation I'm experiencing. I guess it was mostly pedal firmness I was trying to describe, but I may try the SS lines just for the heck of it.

On a slightly different note, do you guys experience any brake squeal when crawling to a stop? I know this is common with high performance brakes, and especially with certain types of pads, but just curious.

I have that annoying hum just as I coasting to a stop., I believe there is a TSB on this, I know of a few members who have had the rotors and pads replaced under warranty.

I had the squeal before I replaced the rear rotors with the Evosport 2 piece ones. Now I have zero squeal.

Nick is right. There is a TSB on the pads on earlier 08/09 c63's. Pads and rotors were prone to "Glazing" and depending on how bad MB is replacing pads or both pads and Rotors. I have had all my Rotors and pads replaced once under this TSB and had my Front rotors and Pads replaced a second time under the "Wear and Tear" warranty. (After 3 full track days)

Great info! I was unaware of any TSBs regarding the pads. The squeal is noticeable all the time, not just on occasion. If the rotors and pads are glazed over then perhaps that is why I think the pedal feels a bit mushy. Might be a good excuse to upgrade to the 2 piece rotors.
