Throttle/ECU reset trick help
I did a search on the procedure but there are some variations in the instructions and I just want to make sure I do it correctly. Can someone who has done it with success list the steps again?
Thanks

The instructions posted varied regarding exactly when to press the accelerator down, when to take your foot off, how long to wait after the process, whether to get out of the car and lock the doors and wait 2 minutes, etc......
Just wanted some clarification from someone who has done it correctly before.

actually i have...i do it about every few weeks when i leave the city and head up through CT and NY in order to get rid of the "stop and go" city driving and have a "clean slate" for the transmission. I reset it then do some sprinted runs and hard driving and i can feel a world of a difference.

and did you read what I wrote... placebo effect as the Butt Dyno as people have reported is a crock. If you really think there is a difference, prove it on the dyno or at the track. i'd really like to see how the car runs in the quarter mile if someone has driven stop and go and then compare it to the times after you do WOT at the track.

Hmmm, I`ll give it a try again. People in the E63 section say that this ECU reset trick only works on 5-Speed auto trans. 7g Tronic cannot be reset using those steps. They said the only way to do it is to disconnect the battery overnight... I did that a few times and it works great!

Disconnecting your battery will also erase all Sirius-XM Sat radio presets and such...which is a real PITA, imho. I would try the TCU Reset "trick" before disconnecting the battery.

You are going to cause yourself and the poor tech that works on your car a lot of grief if you continue to disconnect the battery just to reset the Trans adaptation. The car is going to be full of undervoltage and communication fault codes. I have seen as many as 5 or more pages of fault codes set in various modules/control units when doing full scan with our SDS diagnostic computer after a dead battery replacement. How is a tech supposed to diagnose a electrical/computer problem when the issue is masked with fault codes set where there isn't a problem?

That whirring noise is the sound of your dampers closing - nothing to do with any resets. Think about it - when was the last time an IC board made whirring sounds (when it doesn't have fans or other mechanical whirlygigs).
