I've heard they are great tires, but do they create a lot of road noise?

Not even close.

I ran the Evosport Evo 3 which has, ecu, pulley, airbox, long tubes and a full catless exhaust vs my M6 with just intake and post-cat resonator bypass. He hung very well but I edged him out by about a car till 150 or so.

I checked with a lot of guys on the forum that had T1R's and R888's and they all said they are fairly quiet.

I found that to be true and have been real happy with them. I got them at Treadepot: http://www.treadepot.com/

They had the 2nd best price I could find anywhere (only about $7.00 more per tire) than the other place. I later found the other place went out of business.

Good Luck and definitely check them out.

M6 are fast no doubt but the difference between an M5 vs M6 in speed is minimal with M6 overtaking it by about 1 full car (according to real life races and many videos online). If a TUNED only C63 does this to a stock M5....

Where's your bottle hidden?

P.S. If I ever where to buy a BMW (which i doubt) it would be an M6.

Nice try

I have run a lot of cars and get along with everyone I run. I don't have time for bull**** talk, I run cars to see whats quicker not magazine race like some people.

You seriously think I'm on the bottle? Haha! My car has no mods besides the ones I have stated and many peeps can vouch for that...

The R888s were the tires I was planning to get last year but but they didn't come out in time, ended up with the Bridgestone RE050A Pole Positions. I really like the Bridgestones but still not sticky enough with this much torque.

Don't the R888's run a little wide? I'm running 19's and lowered so I think I'm a bit restricted on choices. I have 265/30's in the back now, thinking either 265/35, or if it will fit maybe 275/30 next time, but I think that may be stretching it a bit on a 9" rim

I've also contemplated the Hoosier A6, or perhaps the Yoko AD08.

Naw I precipitated with the bottle comment i apologize. It's just kinda shocking to find out the "silver dragon" lost to an almost stock M6. It's good to know now I wont understimate one if i ever get an encounter.

nrgy:

I had the Bridgestones RE050's on my E55 (my 3rd set on that car) and was kinda dissapointed with them.

For the C63 I think the Toyo's are one of the most popular replacements for the factory Pirelli's. Check out some of the trire threads they should give you some insight into the different preferences.

Definitely be careful with the size especially you are running 19" rims. There are a few folks on the forum that probably could help you if you post a question on 19" and the best size for you in the R888's.

Good luck!!

No worries bro, I took your post as being more aggressive than it was. The silver dragon is badass and has the strongest top end of any AMG I have run (quite a few!). C63's are tight...

The M6 isn't that much faster than the M5 on paper but from my experience racing a highly modded M5...I'm not so sure. I raced a Dinan Stage 2 M5 and pulled on it harder than I did the Evo 3. I am going to race another highly modded M5 soon, that should shed more light on the M6 vs M5 debate...

Hey if the silver dragon lost to a m6 sorry to hear about that c63guy.
All I know is I have raced a couple m5's and m6's and still beat them with JUST a TUNE. And if someone can find me a m6 in my area just as hooked up as that one or more or stock Ill give it a go.

You have a 08 M6 which I think has a tranny software update compared to previous m5 and m6

I could be rong though

Also i am guessing M6 is a little bit more aero dynamic and lighter than m5?

Whatever M6 you ran must have had a noob driver. Unlike other cars you really do have to know a few things to achieve max acceleration in the M5/M6. For example, If I put my tranny in P500 S3 I would get walked by the Evo3. Now the guy would have to be an idiot to race in S3 but if he's not a real enthusiast he wouldn't know the shift ferocity setting actually affects acceleration. You have to shut traction control off to get maximum acceleration, something not everyone does.

And my car isn't "hooked up"...it's almost stock.

The software updates don't affect shift speed, just makes the shifts more smooth.

The M6 has less frontal area than the M5 which gives it a better overall drag coefficient; I believe it gives the M6 more edge up top. It weighs around 170lbs less than the M5.

Hey Mthis,
CONGRATS!!!!!!!! Great runs and keep racing but be safe!!

Too bad there isn't any M5 or M6's down here in sunny Florida that want to play. Its difficult to find races down here because of the law enforcement.

I am looking at getting a Performance Box so I can give you all some numbers to look at since racing is so few and far between down here.

MURTAZA -which is faster, your SL55 or M6?

wow, it looks like on paper BMW was being conservative with numbers. I just know that my experience vs. a M5 was very good and with a tune, easily see pulling on it.

You definitely have a healthy M6.

U must be the best BMW m6 driver in the world bc I raced a Couple m5's and m6's and I beat then. Or could it be that c63guy's c63 is realy not that fast. Remember there is no real date of what that car does or how much power it makes. C63guy not tring to bash u or something but if u losing to m6's u need your car checked out.

I can assure the silver dragon is fast Bro, we've done TONS of comparo's, Murtaza and the silver Dragn pull me 2-3 cars. I am ahead or even with stock/modified M5's up to 125-130, beat an HPF E46 M3 @7psi 440whp, Stage 3 B5 S4 on Meth, pulled 2 cars on a stock E55, pulled two cars on a CLK63 BS, ran about even with a tuned C63, Stage 2 AA E46 M3 on water meth 470whp, ran very close with a CTSV, dead even with a 440whp 335I, on MAP 11 with MS109 race fuel, every bolt on available.

My car trapped 118 in the 1/4 on the Vbox, which is very accurate, ran 10.8sec 60-130, a stock GTR does it in 10.9sec.

The silver dragon is a 122+ trap car and made 470whp on a DJ, and probably a 9 second 60-130 car. C63 guy and Murtaza were about even with a Supercharged E92 6mt, a Stage 2 996tt, with weight reduction, a Stage 3 S4 on race fuel trapping 123, 9.4sec 60-130. I've seen only one 60-130 for a C63 with headers and tune and it's 10.48sec, the fastest stock M5 time is 10.48sec as well, a modded M6 has done it in 9.62sec, E55 stock I've seen a 12.1sec 60-130 so far, but it was hot out when he ran that time.

Regardless C63guy and Murtaza have more than proven how fast their cars are Bro.

Umm after driving M5's, and after have a good amount of time in mthis car, i really do feel that mthis car is faster than a M5, and im a bimmer fan lol.. but we shall see.

No matter, M5 and M6 have been found already to do some runs... within the next week or so. Will see a few runs with the C63 and the E55, my car is still at the body shop im hunting down some stock C63 lolloll

I agree, it probably is faster than most M5's out there and your results might be different, and no doubt his car is fast. But the fact that a bone stock M5 has done 10.4 60-130 shows they can be just as fast as a C63 tuned/with headers, which ran the same time, and a modded M6 has done 9.6, no modded C63 has yet, not to mention the numerous comparo's we've done and Vbox data as well back up how fast Murtaza & C63guy's cars are.

Forget the stock C63, run Mthis again, your car did fantastic last time!

I believe my M6 is strong but fairly normal. I have run another M6 with more mods than mine and he pulled me by 1.5 cars till 150.

If you do find an M6 to run just make sure the owner is an enthusiast and not some rich sap

M6 by far! I have run my friends SL55 when I was stock, I pulled him hard and there were bus lengths between us after 100...

Here is a video of a m5 stock vs tuned c63. Now a tune and headers will murder a m6 or m5 with no problem. In telling u there must be a big problem with his c63 to lose to u.

Silver dragon losing to the M6 can't be right. Something must be wrong. Me and mthis raced when he had just A TUNE.

There was 1 day where we did 3-4 runs and I kept beating him everytime by barely 1 car length and we have the videos. The next week we raced again he was barely beating me by 1 car length. M6 is of course very quick but a fully modded C63 should beat the M6.

You guys can keep kidding yourselves if it makes you feel better. Josh's is car is running fine.

Evo 3 pulls 3 cars on Drew's M3. Drew's M3 is neck to neck with a lightly modded M5 which means the Evo 3 does pull on the M5.

I pull on a Dinan Stage 2 M5 which has exhaust, pulley, TB, ECU, Dinan airbox, Rpi scoops like mine and is way faster than that stock M5. Stop comparing me to the M5...

up top (over 120) the M5/M6 are walking away if driven correctly in s6

MURTAZA - your car is obviously VERY fast no doubt. Do you have any 60-130 numbers to compare? What does it run in the 1/4 mile or are all your runs on the street from a roll?

Have you had it on a dyno? I have been considering the M6 and would like more information please.
