Steering wheel shimmy
Its the first time its happened, so looking for some pointers on pinpointing the issue...
everything is fine until I hit 80 mph...once I get there I get a decent amount of vibration in the steering wheel - it was happening on and off during my drive to Ct this weekend
Is this "usually" remedied with an alignment or re-balancing wheels.
Anmd those of you that have had alignments at the dealer, wat's it usually run?
Is it better just to go to a wheel/tire shop that you trust?

I have that same situation, and it doesn't wait till I'm at 80 mph to appear.
I would assume it's a wheel balancing or possibly an alignment problem. Will deal with it in the spring as the car is now put away for the winter.

also check if your rims are bent in anyway. I started having the shimmy after a slight bend of my volks on my Evo. It was all good until I bent one of the rims even though I put on new tires and had an alignment.
