Just ordered new C63 and want European Delivery?
I've got all the details on the P31 so if anyone has questions, let me know.
Here's the questions I have for everyone.
My dealer is telling me that European delivery will cause the purchase to be as though the dealer is merely a us delivery agent. In other words, the deal I worked out with the dealership (a couple of grand off, here and there) will no longer apply, and MB will charge full price. There is apparently a 7% discount on some cars, but not the C63. I'm hoping someone can tell me a way around this. I'm already over 80K for this beast and they want me to pay more after i pay to fly over to Stuttgard and pick it up. I've done some searchs on the forums here, but they are mostly quite old, or pickup by someon from Europe. Can anyone enlighten me here? Is this really true?
Also, assuming I can get this at the right price, what does European delivery include? a tour of the plant? what else?
There are no extra shipping costs, and euro delivery does not cost any extra (other than the plane ticket and hotel). They have to ship your car to the U.S. anyhow. Basically your car gets built and shipped like normal, you are just delaying the process slightly by driving the car in Europe for a week or so before it gets put on the ship.
I don't remember exactly how it works, but since the C63 is not on the Euro delivery program, the allocation is still coming from your U.S. dealer. If, however, you were buying an MB that was eligible for the 7% discount, then you are correct the U.S. dealer is just a delivery agent. We both paid MSRP though as we had the first 2 C63s at our dealer and they were not being discounted at the time.

The tour is just a tour of the facilities.
I thought about the European delivery program years ago, but I only bought AMG's, and was told AMG's aren't part of the program. At least for Canada anyways.

When I went they showed me the production line at various stages for the S-Class. Mostly it is all automated until the end where all the options are hand fitted.
They also stick you in a cinema to give a brief history then an English speaking guide will show you around ending up with you collecting the car.
You should also get free entrance tickets to the Mercedes Benz Museaum accross town which is also well worth a visit.

I basically charted my own tour around Germany, France, and Austria
in every hotel you get breakfast (of course) and some sort of "thank you"
cocktails or beers, 4 course meal, 100 Euro credit to use (massage, food, whatever), etc
best $1300 I've ever spent...hotels were 400-700 euro/night
1st class treatment... totally out of my league.
I ended my tour at the Nurburgring

I friend of mine did the same thing with an M3, at first they didn't want to give him the 5% BMW offers...but somehow he ended up getting it.
Recently someone ran a stop sign and smashed my car...it was totaled and insurance paid me out and it turned out to be sticker price (after 7%). So, 26k miles later and a tour around Europe, I was out sales tax. Now the plate is on my 72 Ghia vert and I'm trying figure out how to get the 7% off a C63

note the Nurburgring sticker
