Does anyone know what to expect with an ECU tune of the P31 package?

Have any of the M-B tuners looked at this engine yet? Does anyone know why it produces 30hp extra? The M-B website states that it has forged pistons (will they be noisey in the Great White North winters?), 'lightweight' connecting rods, revised crank and ECU.

I wonder how much is coming from the ECU, since I don't see how the pistons/rods/crank will increase power, without increased breathing at higher engine speeds (i.e. intake/head/exhaust work normally required).

Red calipers look weird on a benz, but congrats on the new car.

 

It's nice to look at pictures, but I'd love to know how it drives/whether the engine feels different.

Presumably its a fraction quicker, but has more of an appetite for revs.

The AMG site says "REVISED ECU" as part of the package as well.....that's a good contributor to 30 extra horses

Edit: Seems like the Canadian Mercedes-Benz website makes no mention of the Performance Package Plus. Maybe it's not even available in the Canadian market. And here's another thing that bugs me about that website. It says "4Gb MP3 Storage" when clearly you cannot save songs in MP3 format onto the hard drive. Misleading advertising, anyone?

Also in one of your pics I noticed an SLR, that must be awesome to see a supercar like that. Here in Ottawa I have never seen those in the dealerships.

I'm considering the P31 pkg, along with the LSD in Tenorite Grey Metalic on grey interior. However, I'm wondering if it makes more sense to save the 6k and remove the charcoal filters and flash the ECU instead. I could use the remainder to get the compound front (assuming the calipers are the same) & rear rotors, and still come out ahead. Presonally, I don't like the red rotors

If someone can share any facts on where they 30 extra hp come from (aside from the marketing crap) with the P31, that might sway me back in this direction - depending...

 

If I recall I was quoted this, I'm young so I thought they probably ripped me off but what ever.

Performance package plus, Premium package, Rear view camera, metallic paint. Might of been carbon fiber trim in there too.

Thanks. Based on the web based configuration options, they only had two packages: P31, and the luxury. Otherwise, there was just the LSD and metallic paint.

Can anyone share their negotiated Canadian price (for a 2010 C63) vs. the corresponding list price? What are the incidentals (i.e. freight/PDI, gas guzzler?, air tax). I'm trying to get a good idea what to expect when I speak to the dealer tomorrow.

Can anyone recommend a good dealer in the GTA (i.e. greater Toronto), that will negotiate on a C63. I heard that there are no demos right now in the GTA .

 

Where in Ottawa did you order from, Star Motors? I have been dealing with John Malcolm for a few years. Cograts on thr order, you will LOVE this car.

 

I had them eat all the freight, pdi and gas tax which worke out to about 3K.
