I have never changed my oil since I purchased the car, I drove spirited at least 25% of the time and right around 6000 miles I started getting a message saying"please check engine oil level on your next refuel" or something like that.
I added one quart of mobil one and my car now has 6700miles. I hope I don't have to refill until I do my first oil change at 10,000 miles.

German engines are historically known to have 'rougher' cross-hatching in the cylinder bores, which results in a longer break-in/ring bedding period and therefore more oil consumption (1L/1000km is not unusual).
Have you ever noticed that mags that do the long-term tests (with before & after performance tests) show a noticeable improvement in accel. & sometimes even top speed, with German cars; especially as opposed to the Jap-traps, which often show reduced performance over time?

Perhaps one of the guys on the forum with a shop. out of curiosity might take the time to do this on a few cars.
BTW, remember that Mobil 1 is not the best or lowest volatility oil out there.
30 years using and selling Ams/oil (and other synthetics), I have always seen less oil consumption with AMS/oil than with Mobil 1.
Using a better oil is one easy way to lower oil consumption...

I am a car magazine collector since 1983-84 and I know exactly what you are talking about but I insist and I can prove you that the before and after long term reviews pretty much always shows better acceleration numbers in all cars.
Look at the Car and driver magazine from April 2010 (I have one on hand), go exactly to page 107 and you will see :
2008 Mitusbishi Evolution MR
new 5.3 sec 0-60 with 40000 miles 4.9 sec 0-60mph
new 13.9@100 mph on the 1/4 mile with 40000 miles does in 13.5@101mph
Also, you mentioned that german cars consume more oil when new. I purchased 3 brand new German cars in the last 2.5 years(07 BMW 335i, 07 VW Jetta GLI and the 09 Mercedes Benz C63 AMG) and I haven't had problem with adding oil. I just added one quart of oil to my C63 at 6000 miles but because it is still the original oil that came with it.

My dealer asked me about burning oil, i have 16000kms, and i have never had a drop missing. How ever i have changed my oil at the following intervals:
1000kms
6000kms
11000kms
16000kms
never oil missing and has always been crystal clear. Very happy with it. I have also had my gearbox and diff oil changed twice, first time at 6000kms and the second time at 16000kms. At 20000kms i will do the spark plugs.

You are changing the oil too often my friend. It is good that you want to keep it clean but you are overkilling it, this is full shytethic oil that we are talking about. The last few perfromance new cars that I purchased new (02 Subaru WRX, 05 Evo 8 MR, 06 Evo IX GSR, another 06 Evo IX SE, 07 BMW 335i coupe,07 VW GLI ,08 C6 Z06, 09 C63) they all have the shyntetic oil maintenance from factory and there was never a need to replace the oil that often unless you drive it really hard.

His engine is fine. I went through more than that, a ltr. evey 800km when I first got mine. Now after 28,000km its using less than 1 ltr. every 6,000 km.
