Potenza RE760 Sport

Anyone running upsized Potenza RE760s on their OEM rims?

These Pirelli's are garbage and they're too expensive. My tire guy suggest upsizing the rears to 275/35/18 increases overall diameter by 0.52" in the rear, but apparently it makes a nice difference.

255 / 40 / 18 and 275/35/18

increases overall diameter in the front by .35" and 0.52" in the rear, but apparently is a pretty sweet setup and works with the stock offsets and rim widths.
I had the Bridgestone Potenza Sport RE760's on the rear of my oem AMG wheels...went with the 265/35/18's though and got 8k mi. out of them. Great tires, but again, even with a 340 tread wear rating, they won't last much longer than the oem Pirelli's.

I now have Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus on the rear...ultra high performance all season tires w/ a 500 tread wear rating and 45k mi. tread wear warranty.

I've accepted the fact that no matter what i put on there, they won't last long.. so with that in mind.. I like to get bang for the buck.. quite honestly I'd try anything.. I have no brand loyalty whatsoever when it comes to tires.

Yes. I asked the tire shop this question, and the mgr. said they've never had a problem with Michelin not honoring their tread wear warranties even if you don't/can't rotate the tires.

I guess it depends on how many miles you drive each month/year. I drove > 25k mi./year, so buying a set of new tires 3-4 x / year is just too much. I expect these A/S tires to last me at least 12-15k mi. if not more. I figured with the Michelin A/S tires that carry a tread wear warranty, at least I'll get a prorated credit toward another set of tires.

Haha. But seriously, I drive ~ 90% highway miles, so it's not like I'm doing burnouts or anything. Granted I have ~ 521HP / ~ 480 lb-ft. TQ, but still, I need tires that last me more than 6-8k miles.

That's the right tire size for the rear, and go with 245/40/18 for the fronts when it comes time to replace them.

What if you stick with 265's on the rear...any problem going with 245's on the front then? Unfortunately, my trunk is full of my work stuff (probably weighing a total of 100lbs) so my car actually looks a bit dropped in the rear with my 265's; wouldn't test it with 275's in the rear on my car.
