Has anyone bought this to upgrade the "cheap" interior?

Your own thang

You were asking if anyone had purchased this, and the answer so far (apparently) is "no." There are a lot of cosmetic mods that are popular with people here that I would never even consider, but who cares what anyone else thinks?

Hell--it's your car, dress it up however you want. And let us know how the install goes (pix please)!

Wow 2200 for a CF kit is ridiculous. My g37 cf interior kit is like 600 bucks.

I have the rear vent trim and shift knob from Schatz (a German based company) and am pleased with the quality. The parts are also real wood overlay and not faux wood as mentioned.

Personally I have the birds eye maple wood and is the only wood color I like but as mentioned to each his own.

I agree with the OP on trends. I thought the brushed aluminum was so nice a few years back but hate it now. Then again my mood and tastes change quite often.

You are so right - carbon fiber is such a recent trend. Like a 131 year old trend.

Sure, if you're over 60 and driving it around the retirement home to play bridge with the fellas.

Oh sure, every car has CF in the interior.

By the way, does yours?

Using carbon fiber as decoration in car interiors is a relatively new trend. Unlike cars like the F40 where the actual structure is CF, this accent trim is completely functionless and is solely for show.

I hate carbon fiber interior trim and prefer wood in my benzes, but I also don't like sporty benzes, so I guess its not an issue for me.

No I have the burl walnut trim, and love it. I have the Sahara/black interior so it really makes the three colors looks great. I'm going to get a walnut shifter because the stock looks so basic. not sure how the wood around the vents goes on, but judging from the price, I don't think it's going to be chincy.

By the way, which car had carbon fiber 131 years ago?

I think i'd feel pretty cool driving my C63 to a bridge game, but by the time i"m 60, I'm think i'lll be getting driven, ,in an AMG S class! hiiiiiyooooooooooooooo

I'm in the same boat, I have the maple and am seriously considering the Mac option. There were no cars with CF and my other options available when I puchased and I strongly prefer it (after several years of not liking it btw). My understanding is they build off existing wood trim, so the fit is the same as stock. In theory, a friendly dealer could help if it turned out to be more than do-it-yourself.

Not sure this is the appropriate thread, but since its turned into a CF discussion...the good folks at getmercedesparts helped figure out the part numbers for OEM carbon fiber. I thought with their prices the factor trim might be an option. It is not. Not sure if posting discounted prices is allowed here, so I'll only post MSRP.

Description Part Number MSRP
L Front Door Part 1 2047203922 $600.00
L Front Door Part 2 2047204022 $600.00
R Front Door Part 1 2047204322 $468.00
R Front Door Part 2 2047204422 $468.00
L Rear Door 2047301522 $630.00
R Rear Door 2047301622 $630.00
Around Shifter 2046809607 $645.00
Front of Shifter 2046809507 $715.00
Trim on Upper console 2046809407 $585.00
$5,341.00
