CRACK AMG WHEEL

I have a hair line fracture of my front wheel on the lip on the opposite of the wheel. The tire shop founded it when they were checking for a leak on the tire. There are lots of potholes on the freeways and off ramps. I had to replaced two tires one in the front and one on the rear axles after hitting potholes. This required the replacing on all the tires on each axle.

I see many local places in Southern California that can do repairs in one day. I read that the wheel can fracture again with a slight impact. This is the first problem I have with the wheel in 23,000 miles. The wheels were standard on the vehicle when I purchased it new.

Are there other wheels like Mandrus that would work better with these low profiles wheels?

I think I would like to stick the 18 inch size. Are you recommending the alloy wheel because it will handle the potholes better than the AMG?

If it was me i would either get:

The Breyton's for $1008/set of 4 in 19's (that's $250/wheel)

Or the TSW Nurburgrings....about $299/wheel.....looks alot like an HRE

I'm only stating the obvious here, but has anyone else noticed that the original post is almost a year old? Either way, if Danny_boy still hasn't replaced them, I say go with the TSW's above. I just got them for my car, and for the price, the quality is right up there with some of the more expensive wheel brands.

AMG GLC63. Audi R8
Repaired wheels aren't the best idea in the world. Welding compromises the metallugy of the wheel. There is class action lawsuit going on regarding AMG wheel failures. Seach for it on google.

Go to the 6speed board and read the thread on some Kinesis wheels that had been welded to repair them:
http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/9...-must-see.html

This could have been a catastrophic failure at freeway speed.
