2009 C63 AMG
2010 COMAND
So, I have a 2009 C63 and took it to the dealer with a request to be updated to the 2010 COMAND software that apparently allows for the ipod songs to be displayed on the screen rather than just the dash (or so I have read in other threads). I got a software update and then was told the control of ipod via COMAND screen is not possible with a 2009 C63 and that no software update could allow for this. I found this interesting since my dealer is pretty cool and they will install aftermarket parts and ECU tunes with no problems at all. Any thoughts on this?

I guess your car only came with the ipod integration but not the later released MMI option, which utilizes the ipod to be controlled and processed via the fiber optic channels in comand system. It has nothing to do with software nor ecu. you won't be able to control your ipod on the comand at this time, unless you can illegally decode and modify your comand firmware or retrofit the MMI unit.
