GruppeM Intake for C63 - Taking orders now!
GruppeM has just released their Ram Air System for the C63 AMG featuring carbon fiber inlets that are 60% larger than factory, a redesigned guideplate, and a K&N filter. Intake temps are reduced significantly for a 15 hp gain and improved consistency over the stock setup.

why not fashion it out of an ABS type plastic and save a lot of money? the cf is just for looks and some minimal wt. savings. a before/after dyno would be nice too.

i doubt ABS and CF are that different in temperature when the piece is away from the engine.
+1 ABS and wrapped in 3M CF vinyl
Dynos wont show anything

I like where you're going, however that assumes that the astronomical price is due to the material (as opposed to the $2400 mark-up).

Carbon fiber is a relatively poor conductor of heat, yet a glass filled ABS type polymer will do the job just as well and cost much less. Carbon fiber is typically used for low weight/high rigidity applications. It's simply overkill for an intake and just more bling factor. It may look nice, but it's not worth anywhere near the 2,749 asking price, especially for the advertised 15 hp. They could use the same mold from the cf piece and use the glass filled abs plastic instead. For what they're asking, you could get the K2 and get much more proven hp.

These guys make air boxes for ferrari's and others. That officially gives them the right to sell their products 5x more than their competitors...(for e.g. Normal intake for evo $300, GruppeM $1450)

E46 M3
Its annoying that because this car is farely new and has a 60k price tag mods have to be priced so high. I mean what makes e46 M3 headers 1,400 and C63 headers 4k? Sigh
