Question: Gas milage
Hey everyone,
Just picked up my baby last thursday..but 1 quick question!!
On my odometer it says I have travelled 360KM since..but I starting my 3rd tank of gas!!! I know the gas tank is relatively smaller (I came from a CLS500), but I have been getting gas basically every other day! And yes total KM travelled from this morning is 360KM!
I know this car is a gas machine, but just want to make sure if it is THIS hungry!
Please chime in!
Thanks

oh....you will know that this tank will not hold long,
It told you 360 km, my will put my money on another 200 - 230 km most.
i heard a owner told me, that since he had this car, he sees the guy in petrol station more than his mother in law....funny guy...haha
enjoy you car anyway.

Until the engine is completely run in, about 10,000 miles or more, the piston rings aren't fully seated which is why these cars burn more oil early on and make more power later. I've noticed my mpg steadily improving for highway cruising from 17-19 till this past weekend I averaged 22 mpg at 323 miles on 1 tank(mostly highway at 70-75mph). And I've had the K1 tune since about 2,500 miles. I can remember only getting about 230 miles on 1 tank during the break in which is about 370 km. So, I'm assuming your 360 km was on one tank...you're about right.

I traveled 360KM and used up 2 tanks and just filled up to start my 3rd..
and no, I have not been mashing the car either, it's still break-in period and i have not been pass 4k RPM.

In your trip computer, what does your car say it is drinking?
For my first few days, I was averaging around 25L/100km. These days just DDing, i'll get around 20L/100km; and I go WOT at least a few times every time I drive the car.
I have noticed that these cars get the best economy under 2.5k rpm. Just because you are keeping it under 4k rpm doesn't mean fuel wont be drank. If you always mash it to the speed limit but kept it under 4k rpm, I think fuel consumption would be around 25L again.
Anyway, my final advice, get use to it. This baby loves to drink and has a bloody small fuel tank to go with it.

175 km per tank seems way too low.... have you noticed any leaks? You may want to have the dealer check it just in case.

110 miles per tank does not make sense at all, the worst I have seen or read is 160 miles (i.e. roughly 10mpg and this was on a track). Something is definitely wrong. Check your mileage on the next tank and if it continues, go to the dealer.

ERROR .. you have said C63 and Gas Mileage in the same sentence.. I'm sorry.. these two terms are not to be used in the same breath..
Get used to Big-block V8 SUV style gas mileage. Even my Corvette Z06 gets 28mpg on the highway and I average 22mpg overall.
With the C63? I average 16 mpg combined. FAIL.

This is the first "car" I have ever owned. I am quite happy with the mpg. I am more familiar with sub 20 mpg in my SUVs and trucks. The c63 gives me 20 or 21 mpg. I just wish it had a bigger tank on my longer road trips.

I have found in the ~1800 miles of ownership I'm getting roughly 11-12MPG.
Even when I commit to myself that I will try to get better milage, I just can't help it and can't resist stomping on the throttle.

did you check your trip computer like i told you?
if your trip computer tells you that you are getting like 20L/100, but your fuel receipts are telling you that you are getting 30L/100, then there is an issue.
thats why i told you to check it.

appreciate the help!

and now compared that to your fuel receipts.
I know that when my "reserve fuel light" comes on, it is still on 1/4 tank (15L).
So if you filled up then both times, you probably only put in 50L (so, 200km at 25L/100). So for having filled up your third tank at 360km (that is close to 400km @ 25L) sounds pretty spot on.

+1 Seems like he's getting half as much as he should The ECU could be dumping fuel for some reason or maybe there is a leak or something else going on. You should have the dealer check just in case

Alexcim has a good point. If he fills up when he just hits the reserve, then it may not be too far off as most of us can do 40-50 miles on that reserve.
so the best way is to fill up at a consistent spot (either close to empty or when reserve light comes on), reset your tripometer and then calculate consumption.
Capish>?
