plastic film on roof rack part

ok, i'm not sure what the part is. all i know is that we have one on each side of the car on the roof. it has 2 rectangular pieces i think that can pop out for a roof rack.

i picked up my car from service and a few repairs... as i was looking it over, i noticed something sticking up from the roof. looked like a thin film of plastic or something like saran wrap... looks bad... i grabbed a piece seeing if it would just easily peel off but nope, just broke off.

i then walked over to the other side and thought i didn't see anything until i looked closer, and saw some torn pieces too...

i'm assuming this is some sort of film to protect it... but was it supposed to be removed upon deliver of the car?

Regardless of what it is, I’d be back to the dealer quick as possible for a warranty fix.

You've got a lot of small scratches/chips around the trim, have you been using them for roof racks? It's almost like a clearcoat has lifted.

.

I've noticed those plastic pieces on mine as well...was never sure what they were.

Also, my clearcoat (after 1 year) is already blotching...I have black, and can see what looks like little oil drops in the coat of paint. They are just little shiny orbs (not chips, but almost bubbles under the paint)...do you think that is a warranty fix?
