CF shift knob w/ OE CF interior trim
Thanks to Dave (harrower) I picked up this knob. It's a huge improvement over OE, IMO. Two photos, one in natural light and one flash, both against the OE CF trim..
I'm posting a photo of the OE shift knob assembly also to help anyone who reads the installation instructions better make sense of the parts descriptions. I skipped step 3 (PITA) and simply pulled the knob up and off the shift rod after loosening the collar...it came of easily but YMMV. Also, when you drop the new knob on the shift rod it will align itself and feel as though it is seated but give it a few light taps with the fleshy part of a clenched fist, likely it will seat lower, around 1/3"...only then will you be able to engage the two threaded portions by completely seating the new knob. This "tip" is not currently on the website instructions but should be shortly.

Nice mod and looks great.
IMHO this shifter is a must for anyone who has interior CF trim as I think it completes the look of the interior. The dead weight feel of the shifter when shifting feels like quality vs. the OEM plastic shifter.

I really like my Blk/Birdseye. I have had CF in other cars with all Black interior leather and its kinda lost in the entire color scheme, especially when U consider the extra $$. See pic below . CF sills, S/Wheel. console and brake handle & shifter, Dash Strip. IMHO I think the CF knob in a Wood trim interior looks a little lame and out of place.. I sure would go for a matching Birdseye/AMG knob though.

PatSC243, yup that is what the OEM shifter looks like when you take it out. If you change it out, just wait until you hold the thing in your hand...completely cheap and has no weight to it at all...thing must have cost MB $3.00 if that.

The swap is a piece of cake. It should take 5 minutes...lift the shift boot, turn the OE collar slightly, pop the OE knob off, reassemble with new parts. put the new knob on and push down, screw the collar back up to cinch everything, put the shift boot back on and you are done. The new knob is self-aligning...you cannot screw that up. Just look at the OE "exploded" photo above and the similar photo of the new knob assembly, reread the website instructions and it should be clear. One note - the website talks about a nylon washer - the new washer is machined aluminum...I spent 10 minutes looking for a missing nylon washer.

Jerry here from ForMyMercedes.com I ordered a sample wood piece for W204 C Class from Benz $100, and sent it to the factory - so that a color and grain match can be achieved. I expect to have the ID # from the factory within the next 3 days, so burl shift knobs can be ordered for W204. Burl, like all wood, comes in various tones and grains. I expect I can offer a match. The 12-1 version is on my site, and there will be another, which is round S-19 with a classic AMG logo. In addition, I will have the wood trim piece for the glove box in this wood. contact me if you have any questions or comments info@ForMymercedes.com

I'll check with factory - I think this customer sent me a shift knob to have wood and leather installed. This isn't a C Class. I am looking in to it.
