C63 vs. Lexus LFA
Ok, so this isn't an actual car comparison, because obviously, the C63 would win ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
But seriously, have you seen the new Lexus LFA commercial:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-F_0HHGMIk
Why didn't MB do this with the C63...it would have blown the glass WAY earlier than 175 mph...
Did you notice it shifted at red line from 5-6 at 175...look familiar (dyno riders).
AWESOME MARKETING, LEXUS!!

Miamilt,
I actually don't concur with you. The LFA has a much higher pitch sound than the deeper V8 note found on the C63. That is a TV commercial and I really don't know if they are exagerating it.
Reagrdless, I personally think the LFA has a nicer engine note, not that i don't like the C63 note. Just my .2c
Last but not least, as much as I like the LFA, I think there are cheaper cars that will do the same performanse wise. I don't think there is anything that the Lexus LFA can do that you couldn't do with the new Viper(let alone the ACR Viper) or a Corvette Z06(let alone the zr1) or the GTR (Let alone the Spec V) or a plain Porsche 911 Turbo(2010) or a Audi R8.

The LFA has a supercar note...our car does not.
The C63 would have BLOWN the glass out from the rumble...the room would have been shaking. Have you ever had your car on a dyno? If so, you know just how loud it can get, especially in 5th gear to redline (and clearly, the commercial shows 6th).
I agree, it was probably artistic license...most speakers don't produce noise at a pitch that will break glass, unless it is audio feedback.
There are PLENTY of cars that do 0-60 in 3.7s and 0-100 in the 7's for much less...but then again, we can argue that about MOST M-B cars (see any S or SL or CL class car).
Overall, I was just commenting on how cool of an Ad it was...I'm not in marketing, but I understand a good commercial when I see it. They aren't trying to market the LFA...it is a limited edition that is already (supposedly) sold out...so why put it on there? Because "We at Lexus have some of the best, coolest, new technology out there...just look at the car we made"....it will get people to buy IS-250s just by getting them to go to a dealer to see if they can SEE an LFA up close. GREAT MARKETING.

Yes, I agree. By the way, I have had a 7.0 liter V8 with long tube headers, cam, ported intake manifold, ported throtle body and stage III heads and 3" true dual exhaust and I know what louds means, specially while tunning it on a dyno. The C63 is loud but there are louder out there

Oh, absolutely. I would say we probably are even "quieter" than most of the higher end Mustangs (Cobras, Shelbys, etc.).
Did you have a Vette? I know they put out a 7L, but that is new. Viper wasn't 7.0L was it?

Guys I love the exhaust note from my C 63, but nothing will ever compare to the sound of the Ferrari in any gear at any speed.

All the cars have been "sold" and I put sold in quotes because the way Toyota/Lexus sold them, the owners do not actually own the vehicle for the first few years (I thnk its 2 or 4, I forget). They wanted to prevent people from buying them to just resell.
Either way, I absolutely love the digital dashboard..... I wonder if someone will come out with a conversion for our benzes

I didn't understand the commercial at first, but it's about the mechanical resonance. The exhaust note was matched to a specific champagne flute with the same resonant frequency so that it would explode without the need of any special effects.
Mechanical resonance is the tendency of a mechanical system to absorb more energy when the frequency of its oscillations matches the system's natural frequency of vibration (its resonance frequency or resonant frequency) than it does at other frequencies. It may cause violent swaying motions and even catastrophic failure in improperly constructed structures including bridges, buildings, and airplanes a phenomenon known as resonance disaster.

^^^Yeah, but that is one toyota I wouldn't mind the gas pedal sticking in
WHOOOOOOOO...you wouldn't even feel the pain when you hit.
Can't believe it didn't STOMP the GT-R...9000RPMs, more HP, lighter, no AWD...it should have easily started to pull away hard above about 70mph.
