Opening up vent on driver side front bumper cover?

Opening up vent on driver side front bumper cover?
Are there any opinions on removing the plastic shield that obstructs the vent on the driver side front bumper cover? Just looking for an extra place for the engine heat to escape.

After a track event with my trans overheating I was thinking of putting a fan forced trans cooler in that area and opening the vents up to provide airflow.

I think it would be of limited utility in that since heat rises there is literally no place for it to go. I frequently leave the hood up in the summer for half an hour or so. It amazes me that plastics can survive that environment.
