New C63 Owner... CEL... common culprits?

Well, just traded the 08 C350 for a MINT CPO 2009 C63 for $17K below new MSRP. What a beast. However, the CEL came on 100 miles after driving away from the dealer. 9K on the car. Gas cap tight. Slight roughness at idle. Anything common you could tell me about?

I saw the service history and there was nothing emission control related ever done to the car so I'm pretty sure this isn't a chronic thing with this particular car.

At the dealer now for diagnostic/repair.

Two ideas:

1. Take off the airboxes. See if the previous owner removed the charcoal filters and installed "oiled" aftermarket air filters.

2. Have the dealer check for an intake manifold leak.

Either of the above situations have been known to cause a CEL as reported by members here.

Car is completely and totally stock, so no oiled filters are possible. It does sound like an intake leak simply because of the rough idle that accompanies it.

However, I have to ask, do these cars idle slightly rough or lopey when running normally? Given I've only driven the car 100 miles or so, I have no basis to know how they idle optimally.

I had a stuck purge valve replaced about 2 months ago that
triggered a CEL.

I'm hoping that's what it is. No major repairs desired here. Thanks.

Purge valve indeed. Glad they didn't have to take anything apart.

Glad it was a simple fix.
