Newbie iPod question...
OK, so I get my C63 last Friday and tonight I stick the iPod in it for the first time just to see what's up. I can only seem to get iPod info in the instrument cluster and not in the COMAND display (I have the MM package). Is this the way it is or am I just not figuring out how to get the COMAND to display the iPod? I have RTFM and find nothing.

Hmm. I just found a MB bulletin, S-B-82.60/674 that talks about an issue wherein the customer complains that iPod menus are not visible on the head unit, instrument cluster or has intermittent connection interruptions. However, it only applies to vehicles equipped with option code 518, which is called Universal Connectivity Interface (UCI). My iPod integration option is listed on my MSRP sheet as 057. What do I make of this? I've never heard of Option 518. Have any of you? I do have Options 320 and 512 which are the MM and COMAND options. Anyone know if they have Option 518?

C63, C280, 2500HD, IS300
Not the same as the MM command
Is called UMI, Universal media interface
it does not have the pop up 7' screen
Bottom line we can't have the Ipod fucntion on the scree
unless change to the 2010 one for a few thousands
But here is a hint, you can change to Ipod without going into the audio screen and scroll down to AUX
Just hit the voice button and say AUDIO AUX
Bam your are there

Yep, that's the way it is. Only in the gauge in front of you... which means you have to scroll over to the Audio menu in the gauge every time you want to control the iPod. Use the phone hangup button on the steering wheel to get into the menus. It isn't too hard to find artists or shuffle. You're mostly busy listening to the exhaust anyway, right?
