Gintani/OEtuning C63 vs Evosport LT Headers C63

Well last night we did a comparo run.

originally it was suppose to be against a MKB 581HP car the guys showed up but didn't was to run for some odd reason.

so there was a Evosport tuned with LT Headers full exhaust cattless and drop in filter

the car should make lots power! so

my buddy and i thought what the hell why not for fun.

so here are the mods done.

Gintani/OEtuning
K&N drop in
full exhaust with 200cel secondary cats(stock headers)
tune

Evosport car
K&N drop in
LT Headers (Evosport headers)
full cattless exhaust
Evosport LT Headers tune

I must say the out come of the camparo run was very surprising

but if you guys like the Gintani/OEtuning stuff you guys can contact them yourselves. I think they have a EZ flash thing going on. Check out the E55 section I think bassan_07 has it. its map switching for MB cars.

NEXT MOD to come......MBH Headers !

Nice. Too bad the MKB car didn't run. I wonder why the Evosport car didn't pull more than that? I am confused about your friend's Gintani w/full exhaust? What do you mean by full exhaust? I see he has the stock exhaust manifolds with 200 cell secondary cats. No primary cats? More details on the exhaust please.

I watched the video and I am shocked. So let me get this right, the other car with long tube headers can't pull on you? WOW, there must be something wrong with it, the full exhaust should put an extra 50- 60whp which should be enough to pull a few car lengths at those speeds(my opinion).

Thanks for the video though..

Yes, i was super upset about it too. And I was really surprised about the out come as well. the ''magic power'' is because we always notice the Gintani/OEtuning files seems to play catch up after 280km/h so we where expecting something to happen. but I think we did pretty good.

so my friends exhaust is 2.75'' No primary cats, secondary cats 200cell
and leads all the way to the stock exhaust. I can tell you this the ''x'' on the exhaust is very different compared to others I think that is the main reason why it makes more power. Much like the designs on the M3.

I think your thoughts are very good and clear! I thought the same actually
I know that this tune is very power matched with a very powerful exhaust.
I think for best info you can contact them.

but you can ask bassan_07 his tunes are all from Gintani/OEtuning and he has a crazy 1/4 mile time on his E55 something like 10secs. or even lower.

NO! what happened last night was not planned.

this was what happened.

we got everything set up with the MKB car. The guy showed up and so did like 15 C63s to see what was going to happen.

so we went and took the MKB car up to our ''course'' then after we both got gas then let the car cooled down for about 5-10 mins.

then we attempted to go to our course the guy never followed at all. Then in the rear view mirror we see and hear this freakin loud car and it was pretty fast. So we rolled down the window and said ''Hi'' I'm Zoolander.

after the run, I then found out what he had on his car and he was stoked in an Asian way.

anyways at the end of the day the MKB said maybe on Sunday we will do a comparo run.

I check every header. In this case you will have a chance to inspect the header as well.

In fact I might make that a new policy, Not only will I continue to inspect every header, but before they ship, I can email pics to have the customer inspect them as well.

Sorry to take from your thread, I hope your friend enjoys them.

There are at least 15 C63s in Taipei? That is a lot considering how much they cost over there.

Yes last month 13 C63s where delivered.

I guess it was because the price is actually less then the M3. So starting this year in Taiwan the price dropped for the M3.

but the funny this is its still more then the C63. Both are great cars tho

Get a V-Box and log some 60 -130 numbers. That will answer your questions about performance. Some of these mix matched set ups are not optimum and others work fine. Be safe!!

To me, these results still seem strange. Headers play a good role in providing this engine with some good power let alone long-tube headers. I would've thought that the long-tube headers + tune car would "comfortably" edge out the tune-only car

The tune only car has a primary cat delete and 200 cell secondary cats.

Yes, this seems strange to me as well. Hmmm, I think we should take the cars to our proving grounds in El Toro and test. I have a few cars here that we are tuning at the moment and I know of one C63 in particular where the owner would actually be happy for me to take on all comers.
Anyone here with a Gintani tune want to step up?

Really?

That sure looks like 30-40hp difference to me, which is what the headers will give.

Our cars without headers (same mods as the other car) make 445/446 (two independently dynoed cars on this site) and cars with headers make 465/470 (this is wheel hp).

For those that don't think that video shows a huge difference in power, go experiment yourself with a car with 30-40 more hp and the same TQ curve. The results will be nearly identical.

FYI, the OE Tuning file is the Powerchip base file that was taken with the proprietor of OEtuning left Powerchip. Just so that everyone knows, the tunes are of the same genesis.

Thanks
Brad

I was under the impression that with LTs, it would pull ahead a little quicker than a tune only car. Was the reason that this car pulled slowly because the Gintani car had no primaries and 200 cell secondaries on the stock exhaust manifold(s)?

I agree the headers will give 30-40RWHP over a stock or tune-only car. I've seen that first-hand. However, I don't believe you will see that large of a delta on a car where the primary cats have already been deleted and they've increased the size of the down-pipe's inlet tube.

yes, you are likely correct. As such, the differences will be pretty much what you see in that vid. And in my eyes, that is a pretty big difference.

Thanks

Sorry, I got confused earlier about which is the camera car . My earlier post was made thinking that the Evosport was the camera car, but after reading your post, I looked at the video more closely and noticed that Ginanti was actually the camera car. That's why I was initially so shocked that a car with stock headers and tune would beat the same car with long-tubes and a tune

YES ACTUALLY THAT IS WHAT I FIRST ORIGINALLY DID. AND ONLY A 0.8% DECLINE SOMETHING LIKE THAT WE DID A 9.7SEC 60-130 RUN TO ME THAT IS VERY IMPRESSIVE FOR THE MINI. AMOUNT OF TUNE DONE.

IT HAPPENS!

HERE ANOTHER VID ON THE SAME DAY ANOTHER C63 WITH CUSTOM HEADERS FULL CATTLESS LOCAL TUNED VS. EVO C63
THIS TIME THE EVOSPORT CAR ENDED UP IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR.
I THINK MAYBE EVOSPORT CAN CHECK WITH THEIR CLIENT WHATS GOING ON.

The driver has confirmed that he has the full exhaust from EVOSport, I have to say the sound is pretty addictive!
