Is this anyone online here?

If so, I hope everyone is okay.

Hope that is no one on the forum. The first thing I noticed was the damage on the Echo versus the Mercedes. Just another reason to buy Mercedes.
Also, I live in Burke, Va and have not seen that the C before. Wonder if it is totaled?

Yes its a sad story for someones family. Im just glad to hear it was not the driver of the C63 racing that caused the crash. But on the flip side its sad that it was a very young driver related incident.

Not mine thank god... (I live in MD)
I do have minor front end bumper damage from a friend reversing into my car while parking though (made me not happy at all)
Edit: Just saw the picture.... the entire echo was crushed, looks like only major front end dmg to the MB.
No matter who was at fault, a child dieing is always a tragedy.

Thoughts and prayer to tyhe family of the 17 yr old Echo driver. Sadly this looks like a classic example of not paying attention to the road. Glance down one second to see a text, boom you are dead. This nearly happened to my family coming down sepulveda a black prius suddenly came int our lane and quickly corrected its path.
Looks like this happened at speed, anybody know the area , the road and what may have happened here?

There are not too many details, other than the Echo had 5 occupants, all under 18, which in MD is illegal I believe, the rules on underage drivers are weird, but I am pretty sure to have that many occupants, you need to be a fully licensed driver over 18.
Either way, it appears that the Echo driver (who apparently was not the 17 year, details still fuzzy on that though, people commenting on the news sites who knew the occupants state that the 17 year old was not driving, however, how would they know that I do not know) crossed the center lane divide and hit the C63 head on.
Based on the time that the accident occurred, we had just gotten wailed on by a massive torrential downpour and visibility would have been very limited (it was also raining sideways and very windy). The articles do not mention that it happened during the rain, but either way, the roads would have been wet. River Road, where this occurred, can get crappy when wet, nice and shiny, and the lines can be hard to see.
The speed limit on the road itself changes at various times, and I am not sure what the limit was at the point of the accident, I do not use River road much.
Based on what I have seen, the accident was just that, poor weather, inexperienced driver in the echo (my guess is that the 31 year old C63 driver is experienced, I hope), and just bad luck.
It's tragic, and the only reason its mentioned here is that it was a C63, but unfortunately, we see atleast half a dozen or more accidents every day around DC, especially on 270, 495 and 95. Most are not fatal at least.

Just saw this... This was me unfortunately.
I can't really comment on the accident at this time due to on-going claims and medical treatments, except to say that the police concluded their investigation. The other driver was ruled at-fault obviously due to excessive speed on bald tires on a wet road.
Thank you for the kind words of support, however. The C63 probably saved my life. It was a good 15-months. An '11 E550 will be my new ride. I'll miss the raw power of the AMG though.

This is tragic to hear about a lose of life, all life is precious. But I'm glad that your okay though. Its good to see that we as an "AMG Family are tight", and I'm glad that fellow member spoke up to say nice things about you. And I'm very happy as hell, that your weren't speeding, and at fault. From the photos, you took a wallup. The C63 did what it was supposed to do, just as advertised; absorb an impact. Sorry, that you're not getting another C63. There are some great deals on leftover 2010's right now. Again, glad that your alright.

Just curious as to why you choose an E550 over another C63 though? How much of a delta in price is it between the two? Or are you just wanting a more civilized car?

Those tires barely look used... Glad your ok, would be curious to see some more details of the outcome after all is said and done, and can legally be talked about.

The passenger compartment of the Mercedes looks in such good shape.
I'm glad you are ok.
It's unfortunate a life was lost in the other car. You really have to be careful on the road and it's unfortunate some don't take driving as seriously as it should be taken.

As I said previously, its unfortunate.. but a very common occurence in and around DC. The beltway (I495) generally has atleast 5 or more accidents a day, many of them around the I270 spur, which is the worst in the area..
I'm just glad it was not worse, considering the size of the Echo (my sister has one), with 5 occupants, thats a recipe for disaster in an accident. I am also glad to know that if I am ever in an unfortunate incident, the C63 will protect myself and my precious cargo (my Wife, and doggies.. not quite children, but may as well be to me)
