Simply INCREDIBLE!!!!
Too bad 4 rotors cost soo much and are EXTREMELY difficult to get.

I have no idea but ive heard of 4 rotors putting down around 600hp in a little 2.6 liter N/A Motor. These motors truly are amazing. It started out as German engineering by a guy named Felix Wankel. The Japanese just took it to the next level.

Mazda were determined to make it successful and that they did..incredible. The only new engine design in our time.

Yes these engines are amazing, half the moving parts compared to a piston engine. High HP, 9k redline but very low torque (due to a relatively heavy rotating mass within the engine).

Ridiculously good sounding but own a wankel/rotor motored vehicle and then give your opinion. lol
Owned a new FD-RX7 back in the day. Big surprise it lasted me a whopping 5K miles and poof, no workie. Was a fun 5K miles though I have to say. Rebuilt it with stronger components and some mods and once again kaboom after 4k miles. Talk about a love and hate thing, out of my 20+ cars of ownership, I still think it was my favorite in a strange way. So balanced, poised, and a true drivers car. Nothing, I mean nothing I have driven connects you to the road like this. Once again though, is it worth the cost of ownership or headaches associated with owning one? NO, Hell no. Unless your a gambling man. Everyday is just different issue IMO. If I were going for another jap Import it would be another supra hands down. I think they sound just as good(if not better) revving to 8k+ rpm with a ton more power and bulletproof to boot.

It's a whopping $4k fix, but a hassle nonethelss - so feed the engine. The 3rd Gen cars do suffer from a lack proper cooling - an easy fix with an upgraded radiator (a $400 Fluidyne or Koyo will do) & upgraded turbo hoses (silicon - another $400 installed).
I've had several RX-7 variants - the FD3S is the best - hands down & runs down some seriously fast cars. I'm actually thinking of building & installing a 4 rotor in my FD (CA smog laws may prohibit this though ).

I love Rotary Engines and still have my FC3S (2nd Gen) RX-7 T. The 4 Rotor 787B won the 24 Hours of Le Mans for Mazda in 1991. The first and only Japanese make to win there.
Some guy named Schumacher finished fifth in a Sauber Mercedes.

They are very reliable - if you know how to treat the rotary powerplant. People that mod them like piston driven counterparts blow the motors 90% of the time due to running the car to lean. NEVER starve a rotary of fuel or you will unleash 12,000 lbs/Sq" of force (detonation) which often breaks the Apex seals (which then, more often than not, scrape the inner rotor housing).

I am definitely going to be in the minority on this one, and I risk getting flamed, but I'm not a fan. I mean, it does sound like an F1 car, and that's nice, but I would not want it on my car. It's too obtrusive and ricey. I'm not opposed to non-stock exhausts (I have a Ford Racing aftermarket exhaust on my GT500), but this one is not for me.
