Mine doesnt freeze, but when its basically dead, and I switch to radio, if the ipod gets any charge, it interrupts my radio...weird!

The iPod integration sucks on this car. No iPod control on screen(2009), constantly freezes, and I've tried 3 iPods, and the volume is horrendous. If I switch to my MP3 discs from the iPod. The volume is twice as loud. I heard there's some sort of OEM online amp for this issue, but why should i have to buy this?

I ma not sure if there is any difference between the 09 and the 10' model but I do have a interface Ipod kit( $375 option from factory) and mine works great, it charges and all that and I never had any issues with it so far..

It is a Ipod touch. I think is about 18 months old or so.

I had that problem with my nano. The passport doesn't work properly, if you want it to charge, (if I remember right) you have to get in the car, close the door, then wait for the instrument panel to go out. Then you can turn the car on and it will charge. Some kind of acrobatic operation you have to do everytime you get in the car. It's pretty worthless.

Getting the right cable from the dealer solved everything, and I haven't had an issue since.

Make the dealer give you the right cable, especially if you just bought a '10. I didn't pay for the cable when I got mine, it should have worked out of the box. They're going to want to charge you ~$80 for it.

Yeah, they fixed that in the '10s.

I've got an 09 as well. I also think the iPod integration could've been done better; my 08 X5 sounds way better with the iPod. Can't completely fault the audio system because it sounds brilliant with CDs and sat radio. iPod volume and bass fall way short.

If MB has an amp that fixes this, I'd love to hear more about it. That would make the lack of display or control from the center screen tolerable at least.

The volume issue has been corrected with the new COMMAND update, now you have an option to "Boost" AUX input volume which should match the other source's volume fairly evenly. The rest is still broken/unavailable.

Problem solved. Apparently, according to Mercedes, there are two ways of doing it (making your newer ipod charge while hooked into the car). One way is by swapping out the cords (a more expensive option and one where I would have to fight and argue with the dealer that those shouldve been put in my car at "jump street" and one that would be presumably more time consuming than the second option). Option #2 was that mercedes now has an adaptor (which so far works in my car) that charges the newer ipods while playing in the car. Not sure if I shouldve fought to the Option #1, but I was in a time crunch and felt that the adaptor would be an easier solution (and they gave it to me for "cost" so I saved $20).

I have a 2010 c63 and had the same problem but I got a new cable as my old cable had a kink in it and it works just perfect now.make sure you get the exact cable for that year and not an aftermarket cable .
