Assuming all things being equal (meaning that they lived in your town, so things like weather, driving conditions, etc. was the same for both you and the other person)...Im just curious because I was asked this question, and was wondering what peoples thoughts were.

Drive them both. I have. Overall feeling in favor of the 63. And that sound. Oh, that sound.

And, because my ego needs a stroking every now and then, it's nice to see and hear people look at my car, turn to their companion and say "see that? that car is bad ***." I think the M gets less respect from the masses.

And you know, there's just no substitute for displacement. 6.3L cannot be argued with. :-)

Cause I already have an ///M! haha!

Joking aside...

Cause the MB is a more usable car in my opinion. The torque is easier to access, the straightline speed you feel almost everyday, and you'd have to be a really good driver to exploit the advantages of the ///M car.

Also, I think after the ///M car is loaded to the same level, it is more expensive than the MB. My wife cannot drive stick, and the MB 7G speedshift tranny is really good and fun while being practical for the wife too.

Oh yeah...the sound!!!

Hey, the car came from its maker with badges that say 6.3 so I'm going with it. Mechanic's license.

Are you trying to say something?...

Ahaha, just kidding. But really, the only reason I decided not to pick up another BMW DD is because of the family. The car was a bit too small to comfortably fit in.. and the next priority, was the engine. At the time, just as it is now, tuned 335i's are easily beating M3's. I couldn't justify spending that much money, yet being over run by lower end models. Not only that, but to me, the engine felt torque-less. Being that my purchase was heavily based on a DD, I didn't have much concern for the M3's supposed superior handling either, rather I was focused on the much more luxurious C63's interior. Although, I must say.. slap some rims, a nice lip, and blacked out badges/grills/tails, and those things are damn sexy!

What I thought was crazy too was that Audi S5's for leases were similar in pricing to Mercedes C63s, I mean, San Diego Audi for an S4 (for S5s I was told it was going to be around more) told me with $5,000 down and a 42 month lease, it was going to be $900 a month about. How can cars like that be anywhere near in proximity to the C63? A decrepit residual?

I went through this same process, as I imagine most owners did, before choosing the 63.

Ultimately, what swung it in the Benz's favor were character and exclusivity. That sound is just pure essence of power, gobs of good old fashioned NA big displacement muscle. While the M3 looks equally aggressive and has similar power, the 63's sound intoxicates from idle to redline, everytime I get in the thing.

I live in an area where there seems to be an M3 on every other corner, and I wanted something different. C63 sightings are far less frequent even around here.

If I went to a track regularly, I would have chosen the M, hands down. It's commonly regarded as having superior balance, and that point is willingly conceded. But for the street, the C is hard to beat.

I would do everything in my power to convince him/her to buy the M3 instead. There are so many C63s running around Vancouver it's not even funny.

Annnnnnnnd it's good to have another victim in waiting.

1. Because its cool when someone drives along side you and give you the thumbs up
2. It's good to surprise bikers (by revin the 6.2) when they rev their engines under the bridge during rush hour
3. It's good to surprise Subarus and Evo's when they're trying to straight line you on the highway.
4. It's good to laugh at idiotic FOB's from Pak/Ind when they say their Accord will smoke they C-Class any day

The M3 is a good car, I must admit but the C63 is a car they will catch people who don't know jack about cars off guard.

Hey Captain Obvious, thanks for the update. The 6.3 moniker is not intended to be an exact measurement.

I hope your momma is close by when you discover that the BMW335 doesn't have a 3.5 liter engine (3 Liter TT) and that a 550 doesn't have a 5 liter (4.8L). GASP, THE HORROR!

My understanding of the 6.3 badge is that it harkens back to the 300 SEL 6.3. A similar experiment where they shoehorned a 6.3 liter MB limo engine into a 300 SEL. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_300SEL_6.3.

outside of history, I read/heard that in Germany displacements have to be rounded up, thus the 6.2xxL goes to 6.3L -
i could be completely incorrect though, who knows

From what I understand, it's badged as 6.3/63 to preserve Mercedes' racing heritage. Although, when being technical, I would imagine it should be referred to as a 6.2L engine.. Numbers, numbers, numbers..

I also had heard what you said a few times before.. so honestly, I really don't know the answer.

The M is like the rich snobby kid that everyone pretends to like for whatever reason. The C63 is the bad-*** that punched the rich snobby kid in the face.

The C63 has way more character without even trying. Its raw and unrefined without caring what anyone thinks about it. The M is fake and trys to compensate for it's lack of power with its handling. Last time i checked, we dont drive on race tracks everyday.

Don't even get me started on the exhaust note. That would be like comparing the bark of a pitbull to the bark of a yorkie.

Go with C63. It's a beast, not a poser. Enough Said.
