Revving Past 4000rpm at Park...

I remember reading somewhere that car limits the RPM to below 4000 when it's on Park. However, I was able to rev it past 6000rpm at P few days ago, and I'm sure I could've redlined it if I held down the pedal long enough. The car(and exhausts) starts to shake when I go past 4000rpm.

Is my car broken?

certain AMGs had 4k rpm redlines in park, others did not.

The original C36 AMG did have 4krpm redline in park. Honestly all cars should have it, its pointless to rev up past that, its not exactly healthy for the motor (especially when its cold).

Very true. Not only is it potentially bad for the bottom end, but also the top end since that's where most of the oil in a OHC motor needs to be and isn't upon start-up. The most important reason to never free rev a motor is rod stretch. The motor revs so fast without any load on it that the potential exists and can cause your pistons to smack your valves. Not worth it.

ECU won't allow much more than 4000 rpm in neutral. Why would you want to statically rev it that much more?
