How safe is it to Drag race a C63?
I am primarily concerned about the launch.
For example, I don't drag race my GT2 (which is making close to 800 rwhp) or my M3 (585 rwhp) because both platforms are notorious for breaking axles if you launch them hard.
I have not heard the same about the C63. Are they safe to launch hard, and please advice me as to the fastest way to run.
Do I just put her in sport mode, hold the brake will building revs and go?
Thanks.

I did 8 runs over 4 hours last week, no issues. Dad's C63 is probably running the most whp and I think he is doing fine. In fact, I haven't heard of anyone having issues to date.
1. Get some drag radials, at the track run about 25 psi. 1/4 tank or less on gas.
2. ESP off, A/C off, do a good burnout.
3. Use sport auto, stage around 1200 rpm.
4. On the next to last amber light, floor it, then release the brake a hair later.
The last step is really the key, provided you're all set up correctly. Get a good launch, good 60 time, and hold on!

Sean, won't buying your Gt2 a tough axle is cheaper route? To do high 10 in C63 would cost a lot, 15-20K maybe? Someone, please correct if I am wrong.

aroon,
There is much more to it than axles...at my power level I will likely break the tranny (7-8K) and other stuff as well.
The GT2 is purely a roll on highway king car.
I will be happy w/ 12 second 110 plus traps to have my fun from the C 63.

you will be fine drag racing the C3 from a dig. From what i have seen on the E55 platform the read diff is a weak link in the drive train, so more than axels i think the read diff is prone to breaking. but then i have never hear of a stock car break a rear diff.
so enjoy the car!

With that being said, if you can't afford to fix it, don't race it. "Stuff" will inevitably happen.
