Automatic Headlight Mode

I notice that the headlight automatically turns itself on at night even though it's on the "off" position. In this case, what's the point of the "Auto" light position since the light comes on anyway when it's "off"?

So your *** doesn't get pulled over after you've had too many glasses of wine and the valet turned your lights off

Is there any Canadian owner that can chimp-in? Maybe we have a different set up. This happens to my 2010 E550 coupe as well. The head lamps and the head lamp indicator (green icon) comes on when it's dark out.

I have noticed that when I have the daytime running lamps set to 'on', the automatic headlamps come on when it gets dark even when the headlamp switch is in the 'off' position. When the daytime running lamps are set to 'off', this does not happen.

Could be a setup through the software since canadian models are required to have DRLs on all the time. Not sure.

I think everyone that has responded has an 09. I think they changed the lighting configuration in the 2010s. We need help from another 2010 owner...

I know for the 2010s, there no longer is that little green light that is on for the headlights in the switch area...

I have a 2010 in Canada. No matter what position I put it in, they turn on when it is dark.

Kinda pisses me off as the headlight washers always go on in the winter no matter where I put the switch.

There is a setting for this where you can leave headlights on permanently, regardless of the switch or ambient light. I have a 09 US C63.

Yes you can change it if you go into settings and turn off day light running lights. You need to scroll down and find the menu.

I think that DLR might just be permanent in Canada? The US and Ca cars may have different set ups.
