OE Tuning Dyno Results

Yup, Bruce told me 5th gear. I should have asked before though and I would have done all in 5th. Live and learn. Im happy I did at least 1 5th pull and the power was the same as 4th but the torque was higher.

4th is not a "wrong" gear to dyno in, it's just different. I've seen many dynos in 4th, then 5th...pretty much the same, cars with headers and without, back to back runs. I think a 4th gear pull relates better to the track anyway. You may be 1:1 in 5th, but you still have the final drive ratio.

I got my c63 also tuned by OE-tuning. Damn pulls like a ****. I had the charcoals removed-CEL. So I put them back no more CEL. Anyway screw the dyno. I ran my friends 10 E63 tuned from 40-140 I beat him by 4cars-we couldnt really tell gap was too big. Stock for stock-even. Jeremy is the man!

Thanks Eugene!
The last time out to the track I vboxed a few runs and I was consistently running 8.40's. Not the fastest but given that the temps were around 91 degrees when we started and by 9:30 pm they dropped to about 80...not too bad. The vbox had me trapping right around 128 mph so I was a little off my times due to the weather. When the cooler weather hits I'll definitely get some much better times, but for now it's 8.40.
How's your car running?

4th gear is used when doing a baseline to tuned graph as you will not be able to get a full pull done in 5th gear without hitting the factory speed governor. 5th gear is the best gear for the 63 AMG's however if your trying to do a apples to apples comparison you'd have to do it in 4th gear when comparing to a stock run. but the great thing about this is propain has a 5th gear pull now, so from this point forward he is going to be able to get a apples to apples comparison with any other mods he does from this point forward as 5th gear results can be used.

Let me tell you what my car did today with just a tune-airbox not touched. I met the guy with the 440 stroker motor-Jr 666 yeah he wanted to run you he told me. Well the run was very close. But way up top I started to pull. He yelled at me after that This guy runs low 11s. But his brick like aerodynamics slowed him.

I baseline dynod my car, which is stock, in 4th gear. So, I guess it's good to know that my car actually has more hp than it made on the 4th gear pulls.

my car had a rebulilt of the engine. with sleeves lowered compression the works basically.
I'm waiting for a new fuel system now.
should received it by this friday. and after that I'm hopping on the dyno to get my car tuned by OEtuing
and we should be seeing my car going 650whp+ on Gintani's dyno
but there is a learning curve for me to lear now the drive that thing after
I can't wait!!! I have a AAM P800 GTR waiting for me.. its going to be fun

What kind of fuel system are you going to be getting?

Whatever we're tuning!

Can't you just raise the limiter with SDS like we do James? I guess that explains your above post and excuse, I mean explanation.
Seems like using the proper gear in pre and post dyno pulls is the only true way to properly dyno and get your apples to apples IMHO!

Why 1:1? I know that's what everyone says, but have yet to see a good explanation.
Seems to me that you should use a gear that mimics driving on the strip/track, offers enough of a load on the motor, and gives you enough data points. I would think that running in 5th would exacerbate the lack of air on the top end.
