VIS Carbon Fiber Trunk
Received my VIS Carbon Fiber trunk today.
I wanted to let you know the quality as far as the fit is good. I have the C/F hood and the C/F roof from Vorstenier and the weave is straight as an arrow. Looks great in the raw C/F form for show reasons.
The weave in the VIS trunk is like a snake and for those of us with OCD that won't fly.
I am going to leave the top plain and paint the rear so the car will look normal from the rear. However, if I absolutely can't stand the crooked weave I will have to paint the top also. Its a shame because I wanted all the top to be C/F and match. Anyway, just advising if you have a VIS trunk coming beware. Its already at the body shop so when I get it back I will post some pics so you can see what I mean but I think you understand.\
BTW - Its an honest 15 pound reduction!!

My search continues for a matching hood/trunk.

I agree, The Vorstiener CF is damn near perfect with the straight weaves. Im one of those people with OCD when it comes to cars, so wavy CF wont fly.
BTW, When did Vorstiener make carbon fiber hoods for the c63??

I guess it's all right if its gonna be painted. And you really can't tell the weave unless you're up close. I guess i made the right choice by going with a trunk and hood from same vendor for matching weaves (Carl Stone). At the mo the cars in the workshop.. pics on another thread but great job Keith! Keep your mods coming.. all your work is appreciated here!

Got it on and painted like I wanted it. Looks better in person but you get the idea. Faded in the edges like they did the hood.
ALL Iphone pics so not top quality. Will get some better later.

The inner-part of the trunk (behind the license plate) looks perfect in CF
What is the overall weight of your car now?
EDIT:
Why do you small single exhaust tips?

Thanks guys!
The single exhaust is the MHP race exhaust. I haven't had time to change it since we raced two weeks ago and we are going back out next week so I mine as well leave it for now.
Between the hood, roof, DTM Bumper, and trunk I think its about a 110# lighter.
DTM Bumper - 9#
Hood - 40#+
Roof - 45#
Trunk - 15#

I am sure its lighter but I have never weighed any of the exhaust parts.
Between the nitrous bottles and the fuel cell I have over 100# of goodies in the trunk along with the 50# roll bar so I've added more than I've lost.
