Next car for the rest of us....Huh?
Married with the a third kid on the way but wife is driving an X5 so that helps for the family weekends.

I generally obsess with a car I am interested in owning for awhile(remember the VW bug commercial where a little bug is growing on the guy's head), learn as much about it, and invariably end up buying it. Every car I have owned from my first (92 tercel. Don't laugh
) has been better and faster than the previous one. I am now thinking about my next potential car.Since I feel that many of us are in the same $ and same generation as me, I open this question:
What would be your next desired car?
Think big picture. For example, for me, moving to a GTR is not as practical because I have a child seat. For me, moving up would be a car between $60k and 100k, so a Gallardo is out. The new M5, if faster han the current, may be an option.
(I know there is another thread, but It died
)And in college (1981-1986, mountains and snow), my long-time girlfiend had a 1980 or so Tercel. That car was the BEST car. Unstoppable in snow, great mileage, enough room for four students. I loved that car so much I'd give it a Bud Light. No one should *ever* laugh at a Tercel.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Kind of tired of high performance sedans and SUVs they are boring if you drive slow
But if I do return to spirited driving, I would love to build a "pocket rocket"
Something like VW R32 Bi turbo (in a sleeper version
) or a BMW Z4 M BTW gave my C63 to wifey (summer) and ML63 (winter) also
Cruising around on MB ML 500 (fully loaded) and having a blast with a 2.5 year old wingman, two dogs, 3 pairs of roller blades, 1 scooter, 2 skateboards and a load of kids stuff.
And about the same price...

Jeremy Clarkson mentioned "The CTS-V seems designed by someone who only had a ruler."

Next year my wife and I are buying new cars
and since I don't own a C63 yet, that will be my next purchase. She is getting a white Audi S5 because its "pretty". After the C, I will look to a V8 Vantage, GranTurismo S, or a 911 TT. However, thats a long way from now and will probably be smitten by something new and exciting by then.

At the end of the day, since I am in a similar situation as you, I would hold on to the C63 for a while longer, and buy a proper family car...a small SUV or a Minivan...like a Honda CR-V, Toyota Highlander...maybe even one that is off lease or slightly used.
The 2 years you hold off on buying a new car would probably cover the cost to buy the economical family car.
In the end, the goal would be to eliminate the compromise that you have to do in choosing a car. After 2 years, you would have the ability to buy the sports car you like...and best of all, you can care for it more since you have a spare car to use on grocery runs and whatnot.
