Tire wear and possible mitigation...
OK, so my 09 C63 has rear tires at the wear bars again, now at 14K miles. Typical, I know. Seems to burn through them every 4500 miles. Fronts are original and still have another 1500 miles left.
However, the rears are far more worn on the inner 1/3 of the tread than the outer. In fact, the outer parts of the tires have probably 35-45% tread remaining. The question is, do these cars have more negative camber in the rear than they need? Can the rear camber be adjusted closer to zero, thus resulting in better tread life? Anyone experimented in this area?

I have Conti extreme DWS AS tires 540trd wr. So far I put a little over 6k miles and still have a good 3k miles left. Ive been to the drag strip twice. I drive it hard but no burnouts. 37psi in the rears. Also it looks like the tries are wearing evenly.

I could swear you just asked that question a few days ago? Maybe this time you get it
It's the toe alignment that eats tires, NOT negative camber. If the tires wear on the inside, it's because of the toe out. With negative camber you just transfer weight, but toe scrubs, which subsequently leads to excessive tire wear compared to negative camber.

I haven't really poked around underneath yet, either. Is the rear toe adjustable on these cars?

Yes, it is. The rear suspension tends to toe out under acceleration, which causes the wear on the inside. Have it aligned to either a zero toe or slight toe in.

Is it really a good idea to mess with alignment??? Tire life worth possible dangerous or unpredictable handling behavior???

see thats my thoughts.... im not screwing with anything on this car. i just opted for some longer life tires and im living with the beast the way it was set up from AMG. i love how it drives so i dont want it to change!

can toe be adjusted on the rear of a w203?
this is my cause of question.
When I bought my car all 4 tires had about 50% left, with the exception of th rear right tire. The whole inner 1/2 of the tire was BALD. literally.
I didnt think much of it other than an aligment being needed.
I bought four brand new tires and a alignment.
been about 6 months and AGAIN the rear right tire inner 1/2 is BALD. straight up looks like a slick. any ideas? ??
