Single Wipers suck! That's why they got rid of them All joking aside, I've used it and seriously have major issues with single wipers being able to keep up with heaving downpours.

i actually like it, never had a problem and my C43 is 12 years old. I think they probably got rid of it because it was expensive. But i think it was a great piece of engineering

Had to replace my single wiper motor on my 1999 C280, TWICE. It wasn't cheap at all. Despite that, I still kind of liked it.

They created a solution to a problem that never existed. All they ended up was creating a new problem. Classic pitfall of companies that try dry and differentiate themselves with useless innovations. hey my minivan has 12 cup holders. WTF!

This is speculation, but I think that they were solving a problem - namely, right hand and left hand drive vehicles typically have different wiper systems. With a single arm, you can use the same wiper set up on both RH and LH drive cars, cutting the number of parts in the system and simplifying the production line.

Further, if the single wiper arm reduces the number of parts on the car, then the probability of a problem or defect is reduced, assembly time is reduced and likely the overall weight of the system is reduced as well. All these things reduce costs. And it looks pretty cool.

You clearly never saw the big *** wiper arm have you? Reminds me of the "Story" of the US spending a million dollars on the fisher space pen to write in space and upside down. When the appropriations comity asked them what the Russians used they replied a "pencil"

on a more serious note. They broke very easily and were 5x as expensive to replace than a set of twins. But i have to admit those single arms where super cool even thought it did this weird over down up down over motion.

ps. forgot to add that it did actually wipe a larger area than the standard twins did. because it extends out to the ends and pulls back in the middle area.
